I am a step-mom to a beautiful 13 year old girl. My husband and I found out we were pregnant 6 weeks before our wedding in October 2015 and are expecting a little girl in April. I am a full time social worker doing about 50 hours a week while my husband is in college. Our life is a little crazy but I love it!

Having dinner with my husband's aunt, uncle and cousins last night and talking about mother's day plans. He says, "we have a bunch of places to go, my mom's, her mom's, maybe her dad's to see her stepmother..." Glad your idea of treating me for my first mothers day is to cart around a 5 week old all over the city, especially to see your mother, who I have to actually be presentable for. Sounds fun and all about me, right!?

After 4 days in the hospital with a very scary 48 hours, we were able to go home! Baby girl still has a long way to go. Still another 8oz to go to get back to her birth weight and she's still very jaundiced, but she's at least stable.

Combating PPD when there is a new road block every time you turn around is terrible. I started this pregnancy wanting a non medicated, no intervention pregnancy and delivery and to exclusively breastfeeding feed. I ended up with Cholestasis diagnosed at 26 weeks, making my body toxic to my poor little girl and an emergency c-section at 36 weeks after 5 unsuccessful attempts at a version. I lost a lot of blood during the c-section and am being monitored closely for the possible need for a transfu...

After 5 unsuccessful attempts at an ECV, an epidural and one more attempt, my heart rate spiked and baby's dropped. We had a c-section right then and my beautiful girl came into this world. I couldn't be happier, even though nothing went as planned or hoped.
