I'm feeling really bad about myself lately, I really want to breastfeed but when she was born we couldn't get her to latch because her mouth was to small, and now she just recently learned to latch but she fights me like crazy when we try and she just gets so frustrated.. I just feel like a bad mom cause I can't breastfeed.
she will root and put my nipple in her mouth but then starts screaming.. like she won't really try to suckle. and most of her tummy time is on my chest as well!
my son didn't start breastfeeding until a month and a half. his tummy time was mostly on my chest. one day after my shower HE decided it was time to start breastfeeding. he was trying to shove his head under my sports bra. have hope and don't stress. as long as she's getting breast milk to start, be happy about that!
Do skin-to-skin contact with her for about an hour a day for a while. Eventually, she'll start tying to find a nipple and doing that will create an amazing bond between you two. Also, if you have her on a schedule for feedings, position you and her for breastfeeding about 10 minutes before her feeding time. That way she won't be angry because she's hungry. You can also try squeezing some milk out of your nipple and rubbing it on her lips and a little in her mouth. She'll taste it and want more. It's a process to breastfeed but I know you can do it :)
