SOB PITTY ALAERT!

So my due date is a little after my husband leaves for military shenanigans. Do I mention this to my doctor? Is there anything we can do to progress things along? I'd be heartbroken to have to labor and birth alone as he's all I have. I'll be 38 weeks tomorrow and that's when my appointment is. Do I dare ask for a membrane sweep? (Can I even ask for one?) I am going to ask to be checked. I've been crampy and contracting on and off all week. I'm so uncomfortable but I manage. I just don't want him to miss the birth of our first. What do I do?

I think you can ask for one any time after 36 weeks.

I understand the risks. Don't you think they wouldn't give it to so many women or induce so many women before 40 weeks anymore if it had high chances of effecting brain development? Seems like a very common practice anymore and everyone I know who's had that happened is perfectly healthy.... Makes one wonder.

you could ask, but major brain development occurs during these last few weeks of pregnancy...

I would ask, a lot of doctors are pretty accommodating to that kind of stuff any more ☺
