a few months ago my brother (who is severely bipolar) hurt my daughter. after MONTHS of me telling him ONE more time he is mean to her I was going to hit him, I finally did (he was physical this time instead of being verbally abusive). I had to go to court because he played victim and when I left the house HE clawed his head to make it bleed (I have witnesses stating they watched him do it as soon as my daughter and I left) anyway. I ended up with 100 community service hours, and there isn't anywhere in the town I live in that I can do them (everywhere wants me to do heavy lifting and doctor said not to) well the courts aren't caring about it. Idk what to do, I need to get my hours done but also need to be safe for my baby. Any suggestions?

wow that's weird I also live in a small town and had to do community service so I went to the church and cleaned after services on Sundays and Wednesdays
@fallbaby16, we don't have a good will or animal shelter. the Mormon church said they don't have anything and the bible church needs some construction
@quin230, search for online community service opportunities? All else fails I'd try the one that seemed less strenuous so they can tell you're trying to do the hours. Do the best you can and ask for help as needed until they say they don't need you.
@rgaine, there isn't anything in this town, @lovemyson_610 , my doctor said they should excuse it until I'm in a safe zone but they won't, I've asked all of them for stuff that doesn't have lifting and each one said they only need someone to do the moving of objects, stocking, all lifting and dealing with heavy items
i would do the thrift store and when u get there just let them know you csn lift becauae u are prego. logically they wont make you do it.
@quin230 maybe different states do it differently.. but when I was going to court in PA, they let me off of bench warrants bc of doctors notes.
Local nonprofits outside of those three? Ask those three if they have other work besides those needing heavy lifting?
@supermommy23, there is nothing like that here, we have a food bank and an old folks home, as well as a thrift store, but all require me to do heavy lifting. we don't live with my brother, it happened when I was visiting my parents.
@noemysmom, I have had multiple miscarriages and my doctor told me I'm to do no heavy lifting or anything that will cause extra stress, to be safe and make sure nothing causes me to lose my baby. I'm in a VERY small town and there are only 3 places approved for community service to be done at and all require heavy lifting.
@lovemyson_610 I took in my doctors note and the clerk told me it didn't matter. I think I'll have my doctor call them next week when I see him
are there any homeless shelters or soup kitchens to volunteer at.... and good job for getting you and your baby away from that situation he could really cause harm to her in his condition
courts cannot go against a doctor's order. it's the one & only thing that can't go against!
volunteer somewhere any where really and have them sign off on your hours and why can't you lift
