Any other moms work up until the day they had their baby? I don't have much time to take paid leave, so I don't want to schedule my maternity leave & then have him come two weeks after the fact. I would love to hear thoughts/experiences! ☺️

I'm in the same boat as you. I'm really hoping to work as far up to the baby coming as I can.

Disability for maternity leave takes very long to even get your checks. I know many people who didn't get their first checks until finally going back to work after having the baby. In my case I've been working off the books for the past couple months which helps me a bit because instead of disability I am just going to file a claim for unemployment. Sad but the system takes their time on disability claims and are quicker for unemployment. I myself don't want to stop working until right before the baby comes

@rbryanna, I've only been at my job for about 6 months & don't qualify for FMLA unfortunately, so I have about 4 weeks of paid leave I can take & I plan on taking another 2 weeks unpaid so I can at least have a total of 6 weeks.. My luck, if I took my leave a week before my due date, he wouldn't decide to come until two weeks later or something lol. I just don't want to take leave & only get to spend 3 weeks with my son! Luckily I work at a middle school & we get out June 10th, so I'll only have to go back for two weeks, but still 😩 lol

Aww I hope everything works out for you! It sucks when things just don't go the way we wish they would :-(

@jessica415, I worked till 39 weeks and didn't have him till 41 weeks. I'm a registered nurse and I'm entitled to 8 weeks maternity for c section birth, then I'm taking 4 weeks vacation, 2 weeks of personal and holiday time and another 4 weeks of FMLA. By law you are required to 6 weeks maternity leave for vaginal birth and 8 weeks c section. @rbryanna you're right most times by the time you're ready to go back out to work that's when you get your checks.
