This is my first child and I found out late like 5 months going on 6. I used to smoke all the time and drink like 3 or 4 times a month but when I found out I stopped drinking and quit smoking at 6 months but I don't have anything for my baby and I was so mad at myself for not knowing about it. now I'm trying so hard to get everything for my son and I'm 37 weeks and my baby shower is on Jan 30th. Weird right but my due date is Feb 6th 2016. I'm worried a lot and about everything, like I said this is my first child and I'm glad I am trying and struggling but I'm praying always. I am deaf by the way. nice to meet y'all. I am here to learn something new (:
yes I do feel like that and I just brought a crib and some clothes. that's it I don't have diapers and wipes but I'm hoping I can get more on my baby shower and after that I will buy some more and more for my son @anddinner
I know it feels like you're failing if you don't have everything by the time he gets here, but it is ok. Just having the basics are all he needs. A few outfits, diapers, wipes, food, and you are all he really needs for a little while. The rest you just buy slowly as needed. I know the feeling of wanting to have everything ready to go. I had my first at 18 and didn't have much of anything for her. Yard sales, thrift stores, are good. The Salvation Army is great, they can really help and give you things if you are in need. They are a non-profit organization, unlike Goodwill. Don't be afraid to ask for free items, online or in person. God bless you and your beautiful baby. <3
umm I did that one and craiglist I am about to do that later. thank you and really because I thought my baby needs everything! haha but I'm about to calm down and it will come together soon or later @rgaine
Thankfully the bar is set very low for newborns! If they have food, clothes, diapers/wipes, a car seat to take them home, and somewhere safe to lay you can make it through until you can get the rest. As Americans we often think we need one of everything but it's not true! The baby will never know the difference and honestly the baby just wants you!!! Maybe look on freecycle too if it's in your area. And post an ad on craigslist saying you are looking for good condition free/cheap baby items and promise to pay it forward when you're done.
I'm screwed right now lol but it's coming together slowly and I'm happy it is. thanks for the tip @reaganmommy2015
@princetonmommy, it's ok to worry when I was pregnant with my third I was about 5 months along I was laid off from my job that I worked at for 10 years I didn't have anything but one outfit for my daughter thank god for a few friend that I met on here and consignment stores I would have been totally screwed
thank you for telling me. I'm just worried so much lol like I said it's my first child
yes I am looking and tried many. someone told me if I have some stuff for my baby, it's good to take him home and still can get him more stuff. I'm just praying. thank you
Nice to meet you and kudos for trying to turn your life around! Definitely search for used online and remember baby doesn't need everything the first day! (I.e. A playpen or bassinet will work until you have a crib or baby doesn't need many toys early on cause everything is a toy to them.)
Have you tried looking for used stuff on offer up or even consignment store or even the goodwill
and thank you! I'm doing the best as I can.
