I feel so inadequate as a mom right now.. im not making enough breast milk to feed my baby and she is getting dehydrated she is already at 12% weight loss... i dont know how to increase my milk supply either... i feel so horrible..
And NO, your doctor is being a jerk, baby's ALWAYS LOSE WEIGHT in the first few days, it's NORMAL. If you give formula your supply will get WORSE not better, because breast milk is supply by demand, if you want to breastfeed then supplementing is the WORST thing you can do to help your supply!!! Your doctor is old fashioned thinking that your breast milk won't be enough, and he's pressuring you into formula because he thinks it's better than breast milk, which it is a godsend that we have it for situations when moms can't breastfeed but breast milk is far superior! That is fact not mommy shaming!
Just remember it can take 3 to 5 days for your milk to really come in, you don't know how much you'll be producing until then at least...Feed the baby OFTEN, like every 1 or 2 until your breasts get the idea that they need to produce more! Make sure she latches well, and tickle her feet or ears to prevent her from falling asleep. Baby's naturally lose weight in the first few days until the milk comes in, please be persistent and feed baby as often as you can! If you don't wanna give up persistence is key! Drink lots of water and try not to stress too much it can make it harder on you and baby and also decrease supply...if you need advice just hmu k? I know it's hard but you are not a failure and you got this!
i had to do the same thing but I would nurse than formula but I didnt give it alot than 2 weeks in I was EBF :) just nurse nurse nurse and dont give it!
Helps to increase your milk supply :) And drink fluid each after and before breastfeeding
Take Enfamil Expecta. It's good! I'm taking it. Good for lactating moms as well :)
Supplement with formula for now until you can increase your milk supply. Eat oatmeal and take fenugreek. Drink a lot of water and drink fennel tea or mothers milk tea. It will increase.
@jade90kdcicg, ima have to look into that and send my honey to get some ty
@des_a_rayy, yeah but she lost 12% and the doctor got hella mad at me.. he wa a like its selfish is you see your daughter starving and dont feel her formula.. im like really? fine give me the fucking formula... cause he was like your not producing enought for her..
I've heard of others taking mother milk tea ? I think it is called I'm not sure , and lactation cookies
Here's a general rule to make sure you're producing enough, keep an eye out it should be starting to get better after the first week: Baby is content + lots of wet diapers, 6 or more per day + weight gain = Breastfeeding SUCCESS! You baby should start to gain weight again somewhere after the first week or so, you'll know when your milk is in when they start to feel "full" before a feed. But if you feed every 1 to 2 hours then they won't be filling up too much, and if you keep at it your body will adjust to baby's needs!!!
