not usually. they measure ur fondus and that's how they tell baby is measuring on track.

What about to check to see baby position ? Do they do that right before labor ?

nope. last ultrasound I had with my daughter was at 20wks. with this baby I just had one at 27+5 because they needed more pictures of the heart but if they didn't need those we wouldn't have seen baby again till birth.

I never did with my 2 babies (low risk) this time they have taken 3 and will take Atleast one more due to placenta previa. They still check you and can tell if baby is breech, or if you have signs/ symptoms of concern.

I was given one at 38 weeks to see how she was measuring. But that could've been because she was so low my Dr couldn't get an accurate measurement or it could be something my particular clinic does. But my ultrasound tech did a lot of measurements so it seems kinda necessary to have a third one? Idk lol.
