check with your insurance first though as most do cover a pump now. if your able to, go with the Spectra s2....it's much gentler compared to other pumps and is hospital grade without being the price of a hospital grade pump plus it's quieter compared to other pumps and has a nightlight built into the handle for night time pumping (I've tried 6 different pumps including the S2 and it is by far my favorite, and I primarily pump for my 5.5 week old...I have her latch once in a while but primarily pump and I exclusively pumped for 11 months for my 2 year old....I wish someone had told me about the Spectra earlier in my pumping journey for my 2 year old because things probably would have been easier)

But make sure you don't start pumping until your supply is regulated around 4-6 weeks. Pumping too soon can cause an oversupply and you don't want that.

Now. I did everything ahead of time. It gives you time to research ant decide which one you want. There are a lot of options.

@queeneden, I will for sure need it. should I buy it now while I have steady money or wait until after the baby is born?

When you for sure need it (oversupply, going back to work or school, etc). If you only need an occasional bottle, hand expressing or a manual pump work just fine.
