But make sure you don't start pumping until your supply is regulated around 4-6 weeks. Pumping too soon can cause an oversupply and you don't want that.
Now. I did everything ahead of time. It gives you time to research ant decide which one you want. There are a lot of options.

check with your insurance first though as most do cover a pump now. if your able to, go with the Spectra s2....it's much gentler compared to other pumps and is hospital grade without being the price of a hospital grade pump plus it's quieter compared to other pumps and has a nightlight built into the handle for night time pumping (I've tried 6 different pumps including the S2 and it is by far my favorite, and I primarily pump for my 5.5 week old...I have her latch once in a while but primarily pump and I exclusively pumped for 11 months for my 2 year old....I wish someone had told me about the Spectra earlier in my pumping journey for my 2 year old because things probably would have been easier)
