My daughtwr is 6 weeks old and EBF
BUT... tomorrow night me and my fiancé are going out to dinner with our couple friends. Our first date night/night out with more then sweatpants on (lol) So I was thinking about picking up some formula so that when we get home her daddy could feed her a bottle of formula so that I could have a couple of margaritas at dinner.
This decision doesn't go without feeling guilty...like I'm doing my baby a disservice by feeding her a bottle of formula.
My fiancé did make me feel better and said that I deserved to have fun and enjoy myself.
I guess I'm wondering have any of you mommas done this? Or am I just selfish?

If you're only going to have two margaritas just breast feed if you're that worried about it. Or give the formula.. Either way, you're a great mom for even stressing this much about it! Give yourself a break and enjoy your margaritas!

Safe to drive safe to feed! Don't pump and dump!

The saying is safe to drive safe to feed! You can have a drink or two and be okay to feed I just did that on New Year's Eve I had a drink but was still able to feed my daughter

No, go ahead and drink a Margarita! just feed baby before you leave and have a bottle for baby while you're gone. Two or three hours after you drink you should be fine to breastfeed. If you're really worried about it buy the testing strips. I've seen them at Walmart before. I used supplementation formula

Oh gosh. Your making me reconsider my couple of margaritas. Which is fine, I'll skip it for my lo. I have been scared of formula since before she was born. Also really questionable about all the shots they give lo now a days. Which type of formula did you use?

And not bashing formula, but one bottle of formula could hurt. Formula made my baby very sick. She spit up, which she never did, and was constipated for a week because I gave her one bottle. So if I were you I would skip the formula. Its hard on their bellies when they are breastfed. Alcohol metabolizes in breastmilk just like your blood. No need to pump and dump. If you're sober enough to drive you're sober enough to breastfeed.

@cmwilliams, i thought i wasnt producing alot but the more you pump the more u produce just pump in between feeding 30 minutes after you nurse or 1 hr before you nurse. im trying to get my milk to flow faster thats why i started to pump more milk the faster it flows it seems and the happier my baby boy but also seemed like he was always nursing just getting the foremilk

if you have a couple drinks it won't hurt to breast-feed. as long as you aren't pounding back shots lol check out le leche league website it'll explain it all about drinking & breast feeding.

@mychellemabelle, I plan on pumping before I leave to go eat. she will be with her grandparents while we are out for dinner, but I know when I get home I won't be able to feed her boobie milk if I have a couple of drinks. so ill have to end up giving her Formula for atleast one feeding.
