Anyone had a c-section? Any advice on recovery? I won't be going home for my recovery, I'm going to the NICU in Atlanta for a month or two. Just things like showering and care for the scar that doctor don't tell you.

make sure you dry it real well with a hairdryer. I didn't take that part seriously and wound up getting a really bad yeast infection that itched something terrible and it got really nasty.

I've had 2 sections, and will have a 3rd, with my daughter we went home after a few days and recovery was easy, with my son, he was transferred to a NICU, and yes it involves a lot of walking, my suggestions would be to stay on top of your pain meds, elevate feet as much as possible, rest as much as possible, rest when you feel you need it, the NICU nurses are amazing and will take great care of your baby, I know that it will be hard to leave baby, but rest is very important, when at the NICU ask for one of the chairs that reclines so you can elevate your feet, and if they don't have any ask for somethings to use to elevate your feet, after the c section and all the walking you will likely swell a lot, so elevation is important, drink lots and lots of water to stay hydrated, don't be afraid to ask for help or accept help, the NICU nurses are there for you as well as the babies when they can be, as far as care for cartoon, it's going to depend on how they close you up, definitely keeping incision clean and dry is important

One of the best tips I got was you really want to keep your scar dry. A nurse suggested I use a hair dryer to make sure the scar is good and dry after showering or activities and I swear I really really think that helped me heal better.

as long as you have people around you to help that makes things better

@lae1988 I'm probably gonna be doing quite a bit of walking. I'll be in Atlanta after discharge in one of the children's hospitals for maybe a month or two and staying (hopefully) in the Ronald McDonald House for a while.

oo well some people handle pain differently idk I was so drugged up I didn't even know they cut me open my mom told me that they just cut me and I was like what I didn't feel it and then after it was over I went to my room and they brought my son in and I had help of course but I set in the bed for two days and they made sure I had paid meds I didn't even take my pain meds when I got home I took them at night when I fell asleep but during the day I didn't walking was a little painful for a few days but i stopped noticing it

@lae1988, my sister had one about 3 months ago with her 3rd after 2 vaginal births and said its terrible. I thought about asking her about stuff like that but we're hardly on good terms anymore.

after my c section when I was getting ready to go home they had me shower and took the bandage off and told me to use mild soap and don't go over it with a rag just use your hand and keep doing that and mine healed perfect it's been two years and I can't even see my scar

I haven't had one but might I suggest plastic wrap so you don't get stitches wet
