OK so my bf/baby daddy Is in jail n may be still locked up wen our first child is ready to be born.. can I give her his last name on the birth certificate an put his name on the paperwork? I've been told several different story's trying to get it figured out

it depends on what your clerk of court says. but u feel out the paperwork in the hospital
u have three months til after baby is born to get the birth certificate.. they just like you to do it at the hospital
Tennessee is so different you have to wait to go to the health department for the father to sign the birth certificate if you are not married yet in the hospital and after i had my son had my last name

you can give her his last name but I wouldn't risk putting his name on it unless yall are legally married. it could be concidered falsification of a legal document and you could go to jail. I'd say wait till he gets out its usually only 20$ to out him on there and he would have to sign to put him on there....

my friend is in the same situation. her doctor told her she can put who evers last name on the babies birth certificate, and eventually he can sign it.. idk if you guys would have to go threw a blood test, but you guys would not have to pay for the babies last name to be changed to his.
You can give the baby his last name. In PA he would have to sign paternity papers to be put on the birth certificate.. (they do that to establish paternity right away so the father cant deline later) idk how it works in your state.. But you can give your baby any last name you want.
