breastfeeding moms! my son is 2 months old. in the beginning when I pumped I was filling up 6 oz bags with my good boob & about 4 to 5 oz with the weaker boob. the last few weeks I've slowed down a lot. i know pump maybe 2 oz every 2 to 3 hours from both. my son is growing so much he is 14 pounds now. the doctor says he's growing great but I'm nervous about how much milk I'm pumping. did this happen to anyone else? he is eating every 2 to 3 hours.
regulating! very normal. if he's still gaining and having wet diapers it's perfectly normal. to err on the safe side, stay hydrated. that actually makes a noticeable difference. you want to be drinking at least half your weight in ounces of water (150lb=75oz) your pee should be pale yellow. anything with electrolytes will help keep you hydrated. so smart water, coconut water, Gatorade. steel cut oats help with lactation. brewers yeast.
no that makes sense. thanks! It just started happening when I went back to work & was super nervous it was because sometimes i do 5 plus hours without pumping. I'm currently only back at work 3 days til January so i didnt think it would make that much of a difference on my milk supply. @aboutellesbabe
I was also pumping a crazy amount at the beginning and slowed way down! I talked to a lactation consultant and she said that at first our bodies work overtime and make way more milk than needed. Then it regulates and starts making just as much as our babies need. So it feels like we're not making enough, but in reality we were just making too much at the beginning. Sorry if I explained that kind of weird it's past my bedtime!
thanks @_akgirl I'll definitely try that as well
