So.. my 4 year old daughter is really into boy stuff. Her daddy has introduced her to things like super hero's, hot wheels, star wars, etc. Last night we go her a tablet for Christmas that was the star wars edition (cost $150) I just worry its more for boys and we should have got a different one for her. Should I just not be so concerned and let her play with whatever??
@mrsschutte1323, I'm fine with it, I've just had people tell me she just likes it because her daddy does and she just goes with it. My mom was like "isn't that for boys"? I guess where we have been questioned for what she plays with makes me second guess myself. But she is 4 and easily influenced at this age, I just want to do the right thing as a parent. So I'm not going to worry about it and tell everyone that she likes what she likes and get over it
The only reason you should be worried about your daughter playing with "boy toys" is if you're not okay with her being her own person and living her own life. Now and when she's older. And if you're not okay with her being her own person and letting her have her own personality you should probably have thought about that before having kids. No offense.
i wouldn't have said anything if i thought that! i say it from experience, of what i seen. @happymommy_
@baby_2016 lol I grew up playing with boy toys too. I get up liking both, nothing wrong with it.
Star wars is Disney now, I feel like its always been for boys and girls. I loved power rangers and playing in the dirt when I was little so that's why I don't argue with it, I just hope we invested in something that she really loves and will play with a lot.
and i am not trying to argue with u lol (just in case) i was just wondering why u thought that😝 @baby_2016
i respect your opinion...but i think kids should be allowed to play with w.e they like to play with...u cant try to make your kids play with something they Dont enjoy...thats not healthy for them..they should also learn from a young age that they should be free to choose. .some parents try to make them play with w.e they think they should play with and then in the future they want to try to choose their careers too..thats just my opinion 😀 @baby_2016
I grew up playing with "boy toys" and I am quite girly now.. but that's your opinion so okay then. @baby_2016
you should NOT worry... girls aren't always going to like playing with girl toys...it's okay...my cousin's baby girl only likes cars yet she is still girly...elt her play with whatever she wants it doesn't mean anything...not every girl has to be girly
i just dont agree with her! @ananasbaby
maybe shes just a little girl, but that how they learn! always from the youngest age && up! @thebroadwaybaby16
I grew up with 3 older brothers and I was the same way when I was younger. There's absolutely not one thing wrong with it, as long as she likes it I say that's all that matters!
Thanks everyone! @ananasbaby @thebroadwaybaby16 @baby_2016 @txkitten83, she still plays with girly stuff and loves to dress up, has me paint her nails and do her hair, we got her all kinds of "girl" things for Christmas.. but we got her hot wheels and a track (she loves cars), that tablet and a light saber too lol
I told my husband that when our son gets here in 17 days or less I'm going to let him play with dolls :)
@baby_2016, so? what's wrong with a girl playing with "boy" toys?? Not all girls want to be girly and prissy. and she's 4! they just want to play! lol
@baby_2016, why do you think it would be bad if a girl is too much into boy toys? Just wondering?
My daughter is the only girl out of 4 boys she has Never been into "girly stuff". It's ok she really has no idea there is a difference in things like that. If you want they actually sale stuff in pink and purple with those themes. You can even get her into superwoman if you want. But really it's not a big deal.
You should be worried.
You should let your daughter play with girl stuff. Once they get used to boy stuff , its hard to take that away!
Yes! Lol there is nothing wrong with little girls liking boy toys, and vice versa. they are little, to them it's just cool toys! lol and I highly doubt it'll be too "boyish" for her lol she'll be worried about the games and such on the tablet more than what it looks like (:
A lot of places are actually going to take away "girl" and "boy" toy sections because it should be ok to play with either or they want to make things a little more gender neutral as well as Halloween costumes aren't going to be separated by gender because they want it to be ok like this past year there was actually a huge amount of little girls who wanted to be captain America vs a princess or something and I don't think that there is anything wrong with that as long as they are happy and you are comfortable with it
