Any mommies have tips on breaking your little one from the pacifier? My son is 1yr old & I wanna get started on it. At 11 months, he gave up his bottle in one day with no problems at all. But I know the paci will be a bigger issue... I'd love it if he was done with it before the new baby gets here in January. I'm not planning on giving her one at all. But if I do, I don't want him to see her with one while I'm trying to take his away. TIA!
@jomommaclark, yeah I've been switching them out every 2-3 months (or whenever he needs a new one). I just hope that since he's chews on & plays with it more than using it for comfort, that it'll make it a little easier to get rid of.
I have a 1&2 yr old and they both have been SUPER ATTACHED to there pacifiers since the day they were born... Hubby and I both noticed that just with in the past 2wks neither baby has had a pacifier!! 👏 👏 👏 👏 they would scream and cry and fight each other over them but since my daughter (almost 3 in March) and son (almost 2 in February) would chew them more then suck them I would go ahead and tear them the rest of the way so they both got tired of mommy tearing the nipples once they were hanging lol so I think they gave up lol... We were worried thinking we would never get them broke but just kinda happened.. Now if potty training would only be that simple hahaha
@jomommaclark, he sucks on it a lot, but he chews it more than anything. That's why I wanna go ahead & take it. I'm afraid that he'll chew the nipple off & get choked on it.
@jamielynn07, @jomommaclark thanks! I thought about just letting him have it at bedtime, but I'll probably have to give it to him on car rides too & just slowly take it from there. He wasn't that bad with it before, but now it seems like he's more attached to it than ever.
just try to only give it to him when he sleeps for a few weeks then take it away during the day then do the evening time.
I took my sons away and used it for naps and bed for a month..then only bedtime (I made him put it on his pillow before we got breakfast and it stayed there all day) then one day he didn't want to clean his toys so I said if he didn't pick them up I was going to throw it away..he said FINE..so I did. he asked for it for maybe 3 nights and I just said it was for babies and he is a big boy.. worked like a charm. and he was ADDICTED to it in the beginning.
I bet it will.
