this! I told my MIL I don't even like baby showers and then I later found out she got butt hurt because she wanted to throw me a "surprise" baby shower. I HATE SURPRISES! So I was more pissed. So I got guilted into letting her throw me a baby shower (I'm not expecting much) but I hate that I was basically forced into going to my own party that I don't want and didn't ask for. UGH!

Usually someone close to you opens the presents! Well that's what my family does. Like your friend, mom, or sister.
