My baby likes to nurse to fall asleep sometimes, is that bad.? Should I give him a pacifier instead.?
Comfort nursing should never be limited. I always nurse my son to sleep and he's 3 months. Easiest way to get him to sleep actually!
I wasn't being sarcastic I was being serious because I didn't know that.......................... But hey whatever? @queeneden
@adaline0914 it's interesting they told you that, because unless you have an oversupply that wouldn't happen. But hey, whatever. lol
Oh. I was just saying what my daughters pedi and that lac consultant told me but thanks @queeneden
@adaline0914, Babies actually know how to suck so much milk doesn't come up. Comfort nursing shouldn't be limited.
Just be careful how often you allow comfort sucking. Because every time baby sucks milk will come out and he/she could throw up from eating too much.
nothing is wrong with baby using the boob to sooth. a paci mimics the naturalism (if that's a word. Lol) of the breasts. this is what your breast were made for; to provide food and comfort to your child.
It's nice to let them do that when they're little, but if you're not careful, they will get used to it and use you as a pacifier when they're older. My son is 6 months now and screams at night bc he just wants to suck a little and not actually eat, and it's really hard (and stressful) to break them of it when they're old enough to sleep through the night without having to eat.
