My daughters want to ride the bus to school instead of me taking them and picking them up.... hmmmm I'm not quite ready…

I didn't let my kids ride the bus until they hit middle school and most days they take it there but I pick them up because they stay after for extra curricular stuff. My husband thinks I'm being crazy over protective but there is just too much crazy in the world right now.

@tayek right! sounds exciting...lol we'll start soon hopefully.

Oh gosh it's fun. The competitions are so light/friendly that the kids don't feel pressure. So far I enjoy the other parents. My husband and I alternate watching (the kids practice behind a two way mirror, they never see the parents--have to leave ID at the door with the plain clothes cop tho) so we can see what she's learning when we want. She's shy but blossoming wonderfully.

@tayek Yeah this will definitely be us...lol We haven't started extra curricular activities yet bcuz we wanted to make sure that they were overwhelmed with school and their ability to learn. But I am excited to start.

I'm not. I meant protecting them is best for them lol. I've worked in a daycare so I know how they are also. Sad is all I can say.

@bekristinaa oh okay aww he's a big boy. I think as parents we are more protective of our daughters than we would be with our son...lol Its a man thing. lol

My daughter is 9 and I still drove her to school. We homeschool now. I put her in some activities (dance, baritone lessons, and girl scouts) so she's very social.

His dad talked me into it... He rode the bus all the time but I was so against it... Last year was his first year and he actually said he wanted to ride the bus at 4... I was so shocked so I had to let my big boy grow up... But last year I took him to school a lot more than he rode the bus, nobody rode it except for one other little girl... This year it's not a lot of kids either though

My children didn't go to daycare @junesmommy15 But they have a lot of cousins who they see regularly so they are very social. But with daycare these days I wouldnt if I didn't have to.

You're absolutely right. We have to be careful for nothing. I totally understand. Everyone keeps telling me to put my baby in daycare. It's better for them.

Lol @ce5ce crazy thing is u don't know how hard it is until u actually have to do it. Lol I mean meeting their teachers and knowing where they are at all times makes it a little easier but I cried of the first day of school for the both of them...lol They are in the 1st and 2nd grade now and I pray every night for god to protect my babies while they are at school.

Awe I understand. My son want to ride the bus to and from school so I made him a deal this year, he rides to school and I pick him up from school... He's only 5 and I never rode the bus so it's a struggle for me but his school is literally around the corner from our house...

@caseclosed2015, you sound like me😢😢😢 its gonna be a tragic day when she has to go to school. I don't even want her in daycare😩

I'm glad u said that I thought people were going to be telling me I was being over protective. @junesmommy15 Yeah it's just way too much going on I had anxiety sending them to school anyway to begin with. If I thought I could successfully home school I would try it.

Yeah I'd take them too. Too much going on sadly. Poor girls can't even walk to school.
