So my Dr called yesterday to tell me that my hep B test came back positive but the lab didn't do a follow up to see if it was due to the vaccine in my blood or if I'm actually infected. I don't remember ever having the vaccine and I looked it up and this looks like a disease mainly contracted by IV drug users, people in the medical field, and sexual activity. The thing is I've been married for 13 years and we had our first baby 2 years ago and I was negative then. I've definitely done none of the risky things that contract it since then (or before for that matter) so I'm kinda freaking out :( I don't go for the follow up test for another week and then it takes several days more to get the results.

Thanks @just9monthsx3 :) My mom works in health care and said the same thing. I just wish the lab had done the secondary test while they had my blood like they were supposed to. They are causing my nerves to fray! My mom also said it is a virus that can live a long time on surfaces in the environment so it's possible I could have contracted it without sex or drugs. I don't know why it's bothering me so much, even if I do have it, the baby will just have to have the vaccines when born. I hate to put a small baby through something that is so harsh to their system but they'll live!

Sometimes people get false positives. I would look up the probability of it being a false positive. I'll look it up for you if you want. Hopefully that will help ease your anxiety.

No it was definitely hep B which is why I'm so concerned/confused.

I agree, it was probably strep B. They test for it in your third trimester.

Were you recently vaccinated for hep B? And are you sure it was hep B and not strep B? Because they test for strep B in your pregnancy.
