@beakymcspence can tell you a lot about hpv. so long as you continue to have paps to check on it (if you have it) you’ll be ok.

HPV is very common and more so then they like to educate people about. That being said most people under the age of 30 clear HPV with their own immune system in 1-2 years (although not everyone clears HPV)

HPV can be tricky in couples because if you both have it, once you clear it you can pass it back to one another and it turns into a cycle of reinfection between spouses.

As long as your getting your regular paps to keep an eye on it you shouldn’t stress yourself too much ❤️ A vast majority of the population has had a form of HPV at one point or another.

I had regular paps when I was young. Came up with hpv that had quickly progressed and I had a procedure done to remove stage 3 precancerous cells. That was approximately 17 years ago. I no longer have hpv, I'm still alive, no cancer or precancerous cells and I have a beautiful, healthy 16 month old. Since then I've had 1 abnormal pap that was retested and found to be normal.

Things have come a long way when it comes to screening and treating of medical issues. So long as you keep up with your regular visits you will be ok.

@verguinia no, it makes no difference. You do need to give your body time to heal after the procedure. Just listen to what the doctors tell you. Its a good thing they caught it early. Sending prayers your way

My mum had hpv and has had cervical cancer. She survived cervical cancer and is hpv free, but still had a pap a few months ago that had abnormal cells. They told her that it's fine and all benign. Medical technology when it comes to cervical cancer is extremely advanced and survival rate is extremely high. I wouldn't stress yourself hun.

@verguinia yeah, it was pretty scary! They caught it really late too and told her she had 3 months to live if they didn't operate straight away. Recovery was pretty tough on her but I'm so glad they found it when they did. It's been nearly 10 years now and none has come back or anything.

That is incorrect information. Many many people can clear HPV with their own immune system in 1-2 years, and some do not. But saying it stays with you is not correct STI information hun. I’ve had many many patients in public health who have cleared HPV, albeit not everyone does but many do. Greatly depends on the strain of HPV you have.

16 & 18 are the higher risk strains and are often not cleared, but for example the strains of HPV which cause genital warts are most often cleared in 1-2 years.

@sherrynygirl, There’s 150 known strains on HPV they likely don’t have one that’s commonly cleared :(

Nooo!! You will not die , it’s very common to have hpv, there is a link that people who have that could possible develop cervical cancer down the line but that’s why we have these tests done regularly. Wait until your appointment so they can reassure you x

@verguinia, There is currently no test for HPV in men. Has your husband shown signs of having HPV like warts? Generally if your going to clear HPV it will occur within that year, and usually after a vaginal delivery you will shed those abnormal cells. It’s just very important you get all your checks ❤️

I had an abnormal pap right before I found out I was pregnant with my first. It was monitored through my pregnancy. After birth my test came back abnormal again and my biopsy showed CIN 3 cervical cells. One stage below full blown cervical cancer. I needed a leep and cone procedure and they removed 25% of my cervix. I have had normal paps and 2 more children after all of that.

@verguinia My insurance covered a good portion of everything. My son was born in April 2015 and my leep and cone was done in August 2015. It was definitely scary. I didn't know if I would ever be able to have another baby. I didn't know if they would be able to get it all. Unfortunately it is very much out of our control. But keep up with your yearly checks and talk openly with your doctor about any concerns you have. They will help you through this. Feel free to message me also. I'm glad to talk and listen.

I've just started temping because I believe that the reason I haven't had a BFP yet, after 20 months, is because I believe I may have a Luteal Phase Defect.
