anyone else having their partner do perineal massages? I tell him to stretch me out because I don't want to tear. He pulls me open about 3 cm and I feel like it's so much further... it hurts and it's not nearly big enough for a baby's head! 2 weeks from now I'm gonna be in so much pain... am I crazy to do this without an epidural? I'm going to be at a birthcenter so they won't have any even if I beg for it at the last second.
@ligermama yes yes I agree, my midwives say the same! @aj1115 and you can start as early as you like but they recommend to begin at 35 weeks.
If you don't mind me asking how do you do those stretches ? & when is it okay to start
Although an episiotomy is a straight line, because the cut is unnatural it takes longer to heal. An episiotomy also can lead to significantly worse tearing (like 3rd degree tears). Natural tearing is way better! Although it all sucks!! :) Also, keep doing your stretches!! You can totally do this without tearing!!
Nooooo. tearing is much worse. It takes longer to heal and hurts worse (from what others say) At least a episiotomy is a straight line to sew up. A tear is not gonna be as easy to sew
@mommysbabiesalways I'd rather tear than get an episiotomy, yikes you're very brave
@aj1115 if you look it up it will show you a picture I'm not exactly sure how to explain it
