what are the risks of taking tylenol with hydrocodone during pregnancy ? any nurses on here ?

she didn't say much which didn't surprise me, just said to lay on my side & count movements, i have felt baby move a couple of times but its just like she repositions herself and goes to sleep

It shouldn't affect baby really. I was given morphine earlier in my pregnancy. These medications are safe as long as they are take sparingly. I would call about the decrease in movement though just in case. Baby might just be having a lazy day or sleepy. You did take a hard fall and that put a lot of stress on you, physically and mentally, you know? So now that things are better, you and baby are both probably resting and recovering. :)

Yeah i haven't taken anything at all but my fall was prettty intense and i was in alot of pain now im worried because idk if baby is sleeping because of the medicine or if something is wrong @raelynnsmommy

then it's safe if they gave it to you in l&d... it's probably sluggish cause Tylenol makes me sleepy it probably making baby sleepy. call them and tell them the Tylenol they gave you is making baby not move much

I'd be afraid to take it. I didn't even like taking it while breastfeeding. But then again I wouldn't even take a normal tylenol or ibuprofen or anything while pregnant. It's really just whatever you feel comfortable doing though.

To my knowledge, there have only been a few animal studies (hamsters) that have shown a correlation between hydrocodone and cranial defects. However, correlation isn't the same as causation, and enough studies using different animals failed to show the same defects.

They gave me that at the hospital after I had my daughter to help with cramps and I am breastfeeding so it still passes on to the baby. It worried me so I didn't take it very much at all. My Dr. prescribed me a bottle of 40 of them to take when I got home and I have 30 left. My boyfriend took a few to help with his back pain so I didn't even take those 10 by myself.

I'm not a nurse, but a clinical researcher, previously with the FDA. Hydrocodone (plus acetaminophen) is a category C drug. In animal research this drug has shown no adverse effects on the fetus. Not enough data has been collected in clinical trials (humans) to rule out risk. Unfortunately, most medications are category C, but that doesn't necessarily mean the risk outweighs the benefits. I'd discuss use with your doctor and pharmacist.

Well yesterday i had a fall & they gave me that medicide in L&D but i just don't feel like my baby has been moving normally since, like ive only felt her 3-4 times since 9pm yesterday. Could te medicine have made her sleepy ? Ahh im worried

Sorry to intrude-I'm definitely not a nurse, But I can tell you that there have been no known side effects or issues with pregnant women taking it, Regular Tylenol is really the only thing somewhat considered safe and Tylenol Codeine/hydrocodone falls in the same category. BUT ask your OB or an on call nurse if it is safe just to see what their opinion is.
