my bf and I live together and our baby has his last name first than mine. she would have just gotten his but his ex wife still has his last name and that bothers me so she got both until we get married or she's old enough to choose which she wants. my bfs mom is pissed I did it that way but I don't care it was my choice and my bf understood wasn't thrilled but he understood

My first son has my last name, 9 years later my man and I are still together and expecting our 4th child together. Its a constant battle as to why his name is the same as mine and his brother/sisters is different. Also my man always puts it against me too! Its 100% up to you. I only gave my 1st son my last name cause my family pressured me since I was only 17 y/o but now paying for it almost 10 years later!

Personally I wouldn't. Just bcuz we aren't married. I don't want my child asked questions about why his mom's names is different from his and if I do every get married and have more children I wouldnt want only his or her name to be different.

I am hyphenating. That's how I feel today, tomorrow I could just feel like giving my child my last name. ☺️

you could also hyphenate the last names so put his and then yours or yours and then his. and if you wanted you could always drop his and use yours as the main one . :)

You should do what you want. Remember that just because he isn't physically carrying the baby doesn't mean the baby isn't equally his. I had this situation with my first son. I knew the relationship wouldn't last. I even questioned what the future father son relationship would look like but I felt that my son should have his dad's last name and if anything happened in the future then I could always have his last name changed... 7 yrs later my son has a great relationship with his dad and I have since married and changed my last name to my husband's. I'm by sure if this helps you at all but good luck!!

@allierose2, and when you do get married you can always change your baby's last name when you change yours . If that's what you wanted to do .

Your right it's totally your choice . Don't let anyone overwhelm you follow your heart 💙I'm my scenario he is such a good man and been there so I'm def going too but if he was a dead beat I would be like effff that homie is mine all the way lol
