It's awkward because it's not natural for her to be in that position. Babies are born with the natural ability to nurse by crawling up your belly. YouTube has some great videos.

okay thank you , when my nurses help me get her to latch she is placed on her side it's weird

The position she's in in this picture is a great way to get her to latch. Just lay back a little and allow her to find your breast. Look up "laid back nursing" and "the breast crawl".
