you will be fine.. you have a ways ahead of you. I too smoked because I was diagnosed with hyperemesis, I did not want to take zofran any more. You will be fine.

If you have to do a test with your pee, you should be clear. However, if for any reason someone thinks you are abusing drugs during your pregnancy, they can test the meconium (which is your baby's first poop) and any drugs that you have done throughout your pregnancy, even if it was just a couple of times, will show up. But, usually they only do that for ppl who are obviously affecting their baby's health and/or are already involved with the law, in trouble. I learned all of that from a nurse so I'm hoping that it's correct! Hope it helps!

@aboutelleslittle so they only would test if they were given a reason too? I was a baby that was taken away from my birth mother for marijuana in my system, she must of gave them a reason to test.

I smoke until.I was 20 weeks with my son cause I had really bad morning sickness until then and my son was born at 35 weeks and he was clean and so was I and I drank gallons of water a day so u and baby should both be clear by the time he makes his debut

Just in the baby's meconium, nowhere else! I'm not sure exactly how it works, but I'm sure that if you tested clean, and the meconium doesn't, you can just say you smoked until you knew you were pregnant and then stopped. I'm sure that happens all the time! Plus, they don't test it unless you give them a reason to be suspicious while you are pregnant!

nothing with show up in your system and your baby will be perfectly fine and so will you. DONT be scared or let people scare you. I know girls who smoked all the way up to their due date. I'm not saying go smoke I'm saying you're perfectly okay and so is your baby. Stressing about it is more harmful lol and they won't take your baby away..

Totally not trying to freak you out! Just trying to inform like I was informed. I didn't know that before and thought it could be useful to know. Your baby and you will be just fine :)

@lovelytee, I was a regular smoker up until a few months ago... medicinal reasons to help me with food digestion (I had gastric bypass in 2003). It helped me quite a bit with my severe nausea in my first trimester. My best friend who is 12 weeks pregnant still smokes as she too had gastric bypass and can't eat unless she smokes. Her ob approves of her smoking...he knows it's the only way she can eat in order to get nutrition to the lil one. People will always judge as they think that their way of lifestyle should be applicable to all. however, we all know that's not the case! you are still early so, it will clear by the time your little one is ready to make his/her debut!-
