Hey 2 questions. I know I have a while before it matters but I'm curious.
⁉⁉⁉⁉
1. If I go over my due date do I have to be induced? I know waiting will drive me nuts but I feel like my baby will come when she should. Can I opt out of an induction?
.
2. Can I pump before baby? Hubby really wants to be involved in feeding right from birth but I want breast milk exclusively as long as possible. Can. I pump the week before she is born so hubby can help feed her

from what I've heard you can let your baby come out when they're ready unless there's a health issue and you need to be induced.

They can't FORCE you to be induced though they may encourage it if there are health risks...I was going to opt out but my last few weeks of pregnancy my bp kept rising so I was encouraged to induce at 10 days past her edd

you don't have to be induced. that choice depends on how your doctor feels and how your body is handing being over due. for example If Your pressure is high. yes you can and you could try to start labor on your own. but again getting induced usually depends on your body and how your doctor feels about everything.

OK thank ladies that makes sense. If there was a medical reason I would be OK with it I just meant if she's overdue but no issues do I have to induce. I'd rather not without a reason ya know? @tavarusmommy21 @hayleymarie @firstbaby_girl

she asked me first how I felt about getting induced

Well that's good that they ask I think that's better than just assuming it's what you want. I don't think there's any issues with inducing if you're at a point and your doctor says it's ok. good luck to you! @lyn

I had me son at 41 weeks exactly.. My appointment was Tuesday, we set up an induction for Sunday at midnight and he would be born Monday. But he had other plans and I was in labor Saturday and then I had him Sunday night. My doctor refused to even speak the word "induction" until I was over 40 weeks. @bbyenolan22

Your milk won't come in til about 3 days after birth on average, sometimes a little sooner or later, so you won't get anything before you give birth except maybe some colostrum

You'll have to talk about induction with your doctor and pumping could bring on labor. Also, you probably won't get much milk, if anything it will be colostrum because that's what babies get the first few days until your actual milk comes in. I wouldn't start pumping until around a month after your baby is born. I get that Daddy wants to help but there are other ways to bond with baby while you do the feeding part. I never pumped just so my husband could feed my daughter, I just had a stash for when I was at work.
