@txyogagirl, we've never had any elastic rubbing problems neither have any of my friends that cloth diaper... I'm unsure of how many newborns I've heard that something around 24 is a good amount given that you plan to wash every other day (which I recommend that way you don't end up with ammonia build up or major stink issues) we didn't switch to cloth until my daughter was about 4 months so by then we were WELL out of newborns, I've tended to stick with the one size diapers but have heard that one sizes don't fit newborns well
Yes I plan to get more brands bc I have also heard the elastic can rub leg in same place and irritate baby. How many newborn diaper do u think I need per day.
@txyogagirl, we mostly use pockets with charcoal bamboo inserts or microfiber inserts with a minky covered fst insert snapped in the inside since my daughter is a heavy wetter plus has very sensitive skin. For night time or long drives we use fleece covers with soaker fitteds lined with a minky covered fts (her booty ends up HUGE but she's protected from leaks. Having a fast & heavy wetter makes things WAY more complicated I would mainly recommend not "putting all your eggs in one basket" and having a variety of brands because what works for one little may fail another ☺️
Ok I will have to check out happy flutes. Do u use flats, and covers or pockets or aio, fitted? I'm just building my stash because I'm trying for baby well I think I'm couple weeks prego but waiting for my dec 17 appt. what I have purchased so far is 18 green mountain diaper organic flats newborn and sm, then a single diaper of all the other sizes just so I could see them. 2 thirsties covers six 1 and 2, 1 newborn gmd fitted, 1 small gmd fitted, 1 boingo, 1 bamboo Alva fitted my favorite, 1 aio Alva, 6 pocket alvas, 12 sunbaby pocket, 500 bamboo liners, and 50 cloth terry wipes, about 25 flower sack towels what else do you think I need.
@txyogagirl, I know we've saved so much $ since we switched almost 5 months ago plus no more blow outs & rashes Alva diapers are ok but out of all the "cheap" brands Happy Flutes have been the best for us
@firstbaby_girl, I found a cloth diaper bank that loans out diapers to families in need and I put in an application since we can't really afford to build a stash while buying disposables
@hayleymarie, I'm going to buy sun babies insert diapers! I'll buy 24 diapers and 48 inserts! They are 1 size diapers. And got from 8lb to I believe 25lbs! They have great reviews and super cute patters!

I thought about this a while back. no one here agrees

I use the one size ones and it works out because they have snaps to make them bigger so they grow with baby and you don't have to buy different sizes

I'm gonna cloth while at home and then disposable while I'm out and about!

I use them at home. It's just easier to use disposable when your out and about.
