Why Do We Struggle with Self-Image and How to Overcome It?
post image
Have you ever looked at yourself in the mirror and just not been happy? What’s about looking at a picture? Today I’m posting a picture that very easily could be a “trigger” to my depression. Below you see a mom and daughter which looks to be walking into a doctors office. Know what I see? My shoulder blades. My backbone. See it now? My whole life I’ve struggled with being “underweight”. I always was told, I don’t eat enough because you know.. that’s how you gain weight🤷🏼‍♀️ Then I got to high school. This entire time I’m struggling with what’s called Celiac disease. This would cause me to go the bathroom every time after I ate something! Well that gave those “mean girls” more a reason to call me anorexic or bulimic. I never really cared what others thought yet I knew inside I was just “too little”. Why? Because over time, mentally I started to believe what they said. I see the pictures just as clear as they did. Fast forward to my wiser days. I’m 24 now. Weighing about 97lbs. Pregnant too! I’m not too little. I’m not underweight. God just gave me a different plan then what society thinks is right. I over eat sometimes and under eat just like everyone else. One thing I’ve learned being small, is beauty comes from within. I’ve had people envy me because my size. I’ve read hurtful things people posted about girls being size 0. Well, it doesn’t matter the size of your waist, it’s the size of your heart that matters. Thick or think I pour my heart into everything, everyone. I’ve learned not one pair of shoes are the same so we can never compare ourselves to someone else’s journey. I’ve learned being confident in myself helps others do the same. I’ve always learned, self love is the most important thing as a mom, friend, daughter, wife, etc that I can possess. So for those of you who have looked into the mirror and not been happy, please do me a favor and look again. Look at your beauty. Dig deep inside you. Society has this image of what you “should” look like but guess what? None of us fit that. We all have “flaws”. Stop trying to please society, and start pleasing yourself💛 at the end of the day, it’s YOU who creates your happiness. -Brandi Evans #KeepOnKeepingOn #ALittleBitBetter #ALittleBitWiser
