Kids first car and college:

What is everyone doing when it comes to your kids first car and college ? My son turns 12 in april so I'm years away from big moves.

First car: Is this automatic something you gift to your child as long as they have good grades, are mature and make good decisions?

College: Do you feel like it's your responsibility to pay for their college tuition? Would you prefer the scholarships and you pay the difference? Pay for a certain amount of years or the full 4 plus years?

I had to pay for a car if I wanted one. Same with insurance and gas. Same with my older sister. My dad bought my little brother and sister their first cars though. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’d definitely help her find a car or just give mine to her when she’s old enough.
As far as schooling, I’d help her get into whatever school/trade that interested her. If finances were an issue I’d help there too. I just want the best for her without her having to worry or struggle.
When it comes to moving out, I like the idea of charging a small amount of rent and sitting on it until she moves out. I wouldn’t tell her, but I’d absolutely give it all back to help with her transition wherever her heart desired whenever she was ready to leave to coop 👍🏽

We'll be paying for both.

A reliable new or used car.

More than likely we'll be paying for a reasonable amount of gas and the insurance until they graduate high school. I want them to focus on being a student and doing those extra curricular activities. If they want a job it has to be part time in the summer. They're only young once. No need to rush into adulthood.

We'll be paying for whatever higher education that they decide on at a state school or trade schools. They can live at home for free or they can pay utilities/groceries at one of our income properties in town.

I want my kids to have a good start in life similar to what I was afforded. Eventually when I do go back to work my income will basically be for them lol.

Used but reliable first car . Child pays for gas /up keep....maybe insurance.

College... Scholarships and grants has paid but I'd def pay if it when needed.

Not charging rent as long as she's in college FT. I'd probably never charge rent though so she can save up and get on out, however long it takes.

First car when it's time he will get my car if he is responsible. But he has to be able to pay for all his gas and his car insurance. We will take car of maintenance.
For college: we will help if we can of he chooses to go. If he wants to learn a trade we will help. If he choose to not continue school but start work then we will charge a low rent to stay with us but keep it and when he is ready to fully move out hopfully it will be enough to help him do a down payment on a house or rent on his own place.

First car: I make it the child responsibility. I personally want the car and things similar to be a something they responsible for.

College: All my kids have college bank account with money saved for them. I been saving money for them since birth. We put about 400-450 *give or take* a month ( split between me and their father). I feel like their education is my biggest responsibility.

Now I do buy them gifts and everything. My oldest I paid for his trip to Italy and Saudi

I will help in anyway that I can. As for a car I think her dad is going to give his car and get a new one. She's 15 and does not have a permit yet but we've let her drive in an empty parking lot. She's so bad at driving and turning. I fear for everyone's life when she does get her permit/license. 🤣
