Как спасти растение Ксерофит (Xeric) от высыхания? Советы по уходу за суккулентами, особенности полива
Okay question for my plant people. So I killed my last air plant by over watering it, I mean I basically know how to take care of an air plant. I kept it alive for almost a year lol. So I got a new one about a month or so ago and it's slowly shriveling. I gave it water maybe once or twice and it just looks like it's shriveling back into itself like it used to be sprawled out more. It's definitely getting enough sunlight so I don't know what's going on. I also know it's a desert air plant called a Xeric. Banana for scale lol. So I just dumped it in water cuz it says that's what you're supposed to do with the desert ones and then shake it out and let it sit. Guess I'll see how it goes. Any suggestions would be appreciated on how to take care of these better

What I have done is water when they look dry and limp (ends curl up as well on some).
I use distilled water. Soak them for at least ten minutes then take them out. Shake as much water out of them gently. Place it “upside down” with a hand towel to soak up droplets as well as water does not sit inside of the plant causing rot. Drying should be quick and not take all day. They are minimal plants and probably should not be on a water scheduling. Just go with as needed because it depends on climate changes. Also, many sources say these fellows can be places just about ANYWHERE. but in fact they need some light but not DIRECT sun. So keep that in mind. They ONLY bloom once in their lifetime. I found that out years ago.

@ladyfreyja, Just try not to use tap water. It can be harsh on them over time.

yeah I guess I should get a gallon of distilled today. Is distilled water better for all plants?

yeah but you can just give it just to sensitive plants. I have it on-hand just for my Venus Fly Trap. Most of my plants get tap.

I love Spanish Moss ( a type of Tilandsia aka air plant). I has a small bit of it but it has not thrived as well as it should because they love so much humidity. Beautiful plant😍. Whimsical.
