Anyone give me Insight on this shrep A situation? Is it common? Is it as bad as the news is saying?

Thanks ladies. Sounds like you've all had your fair share of "run ins" with it. I never know if to trust the news and online (google) as I'm very open minded with things and the whole scaremongering. Even my colleagues are becoming stressed about it, theres memos going around work about and in our group chats!

But its nice to hear real life stories and seems like your little ones have had a hard time!

My little girl literally had the worst night last night with a majorly high temperature couldn't it down, we were in the middle of no where in a hotel for the night was horrendous! The closest hospital was saying a 10 hour wait even to see kids, so i just had to monitor her breathing ect....

But upto now no other symptoms of anything but abit of a cold 🤦🏻‍♀️

Its only on overdrive because of everyone mingling again! Usually strep A isn't of concern or so rife. But honestly i think media is scaremongering. Any concerns over your child having a rash or fever then call 111 and get antibiotics. Xx

Ethan had scarlett fever earlier this year, when he had it the 111 drs kept telling me it was viral and he didn't need to be seen. I got my 'arse out of gear' and insisted that he was his temp was 41.4'c and would only come down with calpol, as soon as it wore off it went straight back up. I was being fobbed off with give him calpol. He started with the temp on the Tuesday and finally saw a gp through 111 on the Saturday night about 9.45pm.. she saw his tongue and rash and said he needed antibiotics ASAP.. he was soon on the mend and 10days antibiotics. Seriously if somethings telling your mummy instinct they're not well then get them checked. It is more then likely to be mild but children decline so quickly you can never be too careful. Xx

My lad had impetigo back in July. I believe impetigo is form of strep A. He had a course of oral antibiotics because he had an ear infection and upper respiratory infection too. The impetigo seemed to clear up but as soon as the antibiotics were finished, it flared up again, so we ended up with steroid cream and antibiotic cream. I think as parents we are very good at judging when our children aren't ok and getting them the help they need. His face did look awful for a long time and he was a little poorly, high temp and run down, nothing unusual for when you're ill.

Charlie had scarlet fever about 4 years ago and honestly, before all this media hype I never even thought anything of it I didn’t think it was as serious as it’s being made out 🤷‍♀️ any illness can have complications but on the whole, yeah they’ll be poorly but they will be fine. Pay no attention to the fear mongering, it just seems like there’s more cases lately because nobody has any immunity with wearing masks for 2 years
