I’m so sad for my sweet boy. He went trick or treating with his new team last night, and when he set his bag down, one of his teammates took most of his candy. (They are 10 & 11 year old boys, so they know better). After a full night of trick or treating, he ended up with like 8 pieces of candy. Our host gave him several full size candy bars they had left, but he cried the whole way home. Not because of the candy, because we can buy him what he was hoping for. But broken-hearted that a teammate would do that to him. He’s the new kid on the team, so I guess he just gets shit on 😔 If any of you have advice on how to navigate this and help him feel better, I’m all ears. He is devastated and that breaks my heart for him 💔
I am not ready for it either! My son had shared candy with a teammate, and then this happened. I told him not to give up his kindness and big heart, and to keep being the bigger man
Kids can be mean. That tween stage of life is full of some cruel moments for some kids too😔. Sadly it had to happen from someone he trusted too which I am pissed for him. My heart breaks for him.
Thank you friend. It was so hard hearing him cry his heart out. I know in the grand scheme of things, this isn’t big, but to him it was, and the sense of betrayal is a lot.
This is really hard, especially when he's trying to fit in as the new kid on the team. I would encourage him not to read into it too much, some people are just lazy, rude, opportunists. They don't respect anyone else. I'm so sorry that what should be joyful turned into tears for him. We're getting into those mean teenage years, my friend, and I am not ready for the cattiness and BS.
