I just started a job with autistic kids and kids whith disabilities and i love it but i wish i knew more to help with them any moms have kids with disabilities or autism? Any tips to help communicate with them .

Are any of you... The " b**** y ex"? I see so many posts about SO's ex's being mean when it comes to the kids they have together, not letting them see eachother, fighting about money, support, etc. and I was wondering if any existed on this app and what your reason was for acting that way.
need suggestions.... So at work we have a drink thief. Any time we put a drink in the fridge it disappears. I swear I know who it is. So far he's taken drinks from everyone that works in the office, we even put a sign to not take anything you didn't pay for and wrote our names on the drinks. The person I think is taking them works out of the office so we never get to see who is drinking them.

Definitely see if you can sit in during a session with the speech language therapist if you’re wondering about communication. If you’re working at a school that is.

Yes i am its a big behavior school but alot more disabled kids an autism and down syndrome

speech therapist are the communication experts but each area of expertise is so helpful. For example occupational therapist help with sensory needs and can have a huge impact on behavior. Social worker can work on the behavior too. They all would definitely appreciate you asking questions! It’s always hard in the beginning but I would just observe them as much as possible since each person is different and different things can help their behavior and learning styles.

Speech comes to our room. They're helpful. They tell u what to do w them speech wise.

Did they have you take an safety classes or informational meetings? I think that is key when working with any children. I would ask your supervisor about them, they prob offer them for free.

No and honestly with some of these kids i feel like u need to be a bit trained but i just kind of assist the teacher and ask questions

I work w special needs kiddos. Autistic kiddos daily. We use pecs or pictures to communicate or I just talk to them. Understanding cues is big. U will get the hang of it as u go along. If they're hitting say nice hands and show them so I rub their hands. I have a student who scratches and he's learning daily to get better w his hands. There are things u can do but be patient and protect urself. Hopefully u get training.

yes go on youtube and learn basic signs. Be patient. U will get the hang of it. I've been doing this for 8 years and my kiddos are so comfortable w me now. U will get there

I just recently started baby sitting a little baby who has down syndrome and I went to the book store and bought myself books so I could educate myself better. Maybe see if someone local has books for sale or maybe a mommy playdate where moms with children with disabilities can get together and share experiences and answer questions?

Thank you . These kids can be so misunderstood so the biting and hitting its not the easiest to deal with but i know its not always their fault
