I have x2 boys diagnosed. I would say at this age its very difficult to distinguish. As Jo said you'd find it very difficult to find someone who diagnose at this age,my oldest was diagnosed in January after 5 years and my youngest was diagnosed last Nov after 3 years. My oldest i knew from about 2.5 years old. My youngest I knew sooner as he's very sensory orientated. Do you have anyone involved? I'd suggest mentioning your concerns to hv, get him on their radar although they may not do anything till the 2 yr check. Does he go to nursery or anything?

Even though he didn't start sitting up on his own untill he was 11month old hes not long.just mastered crawling he will stand unaided if holding something. He's went right back on his talking he was saying mama dada ooooh hiya tah he was saying these constantly he hardly says these words now. It's like he's gone back over and started babbling a gain. He dosent wave to you even though we have encouraged this at a very young age he hits other children when they go near him or when we're at play groups. He hi pitches squeals. When he's happy he bounces up and down on his knees. When he's angry or frustrated he rocks backwards a d forwards on his hands and knees he's also doing this in the middle of the night 4/5 times night he used to sleep all the way through. He likes to put his 2 thumbs together and move them so ones up ones down. He likes is.food to the left of him. He gets really Anngry and head bangs if it's in the middle or to the right of him and he growls at you two. Just he's changed he was such a happy chilled out baby nothing phased him now he's a totally different child. I just feel at a loss here and I appreciate you comments it's just hard when yous didn't see how he was before to now.x

Honestly I wouldnt jump to that just yet, as Jo said above that can actually all be normal in babies. My son is fine now but didnt talk until he was around 2 and a half. (Sending him to nursery helped him to learn.) Babies not walking is also normal up until a year and a half. Maybe wait a little bit longer and if thats still your gut feeling in a few months then go down that route Xx

Honestly I would say you’d have a hard time getting a diagnosis any time soon, they typically don’t like to assess them this young because a lot of the characteristics are the same as many children at that age. He’s still young to not be talking, lashing out and head banging can also be frustration with not being able to communicate with you. Obviously he very could well have autistic traits but I think you’d have trouble having anybody diagnose him for a few years yet
