What natural remedies help children go to the toilet?
What are some natural remedies to make your child go poop? My nephew is refusing to go, it’s like he has to but he’s afraid to for some reason.

He has been sooo much better! He even pooped 3 times in one day! She is so happy and so is he! Thank you all so much ❤️
That's good news. This is exactly how my twin boy is sometimes he almost hates pooping cuz it's so hard and it hurts him, it scares him. He's been going through this for like a year now I'm actually considering taking to a doctor or just cutting out dairy because I'm sure that's what's causing it for some reason
I am SO happy to hear that! Thank you for the update! I've had a constipated little one before and it is so hard to watch, breaks your heart seeing them so uncomfortable and in pain. I'm so glad they found something that works! Wonderful news!
Thanks ladies! She gave him a suppository and he went! She is going to make an appointment with his doctor next week, they are out until then.
Glad to hear he's going and a doctor can guide her so it doesn't keep happening. My kiddo went through a major bout of recurrent constipation and I will never forget. It was rough! If she does have to go the oral route, I recommend Pedia Lax watermelon chewable over Miralax because some kids have behavioral issues with miralax and it hasn't been studied in children.
yeah, she is relieved to say the least lol my kids never went through this really so I’m not much help
Yikes if it’s been a week the definitely use a suppository on him! Get the Pedia Lax kind, lay him on his side and gently insert. You don’t even need to squeeze all of it. Just a little will do. Hold him there for 15 minutes or until he has to go and then take him to the toilet. Prune juice won’t clear a blockage.
Raspberries and blackberries work for my kids. They’re expensive, but I suck it up and buy them every week because it does such a good job at helping them stay regular. Also keeping super hydrated.
Is this fear of pooping new? I see he hasn’t gone in a while so he’s probably quite uncomfortable. And what Jenx said about the pocket colon - basically poop will get stuck there and this can be a recurring problem unless he goes regularly moving forward. It can become quite the vicious cycle.
We keep blackberries, raspberries, blueberries, grapes and strawberries stocked up and my kids poop every day lol guess it's the blackberries and raspberries 😂
Any juice that starts with the letter P. My daughters GI told us that! Also miralax.
Cant come across it this time of year but if anyone is like me you have some in your freezer. Rhubarb! Chop rhubarb, boil it in a tiny bit of water, smash it up, and sweeten with a tiny bit of brown sugar. This trick was given to me by my husband's grandmother and my oh my it works. And it's delicious!
Nothing but miralax works for my 3-year-old twin boy. He drinks plenty of water and eats plenty of fruit lol. He also only likes to poop standing up so he still has to wear diaper when he goes lol. We used to use the suppositories but he would freak out too much
How old is he and how long since his last poop? Edit: I see he's 3. When did he last have a decent sized poop?
@shauna.johnson, suppository is the way to go at this point. Poor thing is probably so uncomfortable.
definitely, and it has to be followed up with pedia lax for a week. He very likely has a pocket bulging in his colon at this point and it will just keep recurring. Then I would work on prunes, fiber, etc. It is past that point now, he's probably got a football of poop backed up and it is probably incredibly painful :(
I hope he gets some relief soon. My daughter had a month long cycle after a bout of constipation to get back on track.
I know. I told her to make an appointment with the doctor asap because he needs to go so bad.
Have him sit on the potty and blow bubbles. It might cause him to relax his muscles. Some kids get confused and have trouble relaxing
yes most of it at least make sure he’s relaxed and no tension because it can hurt them if they are super tensed up also be prepared for the after math because it works incredible fast and I’ve had it where my son didn’t make it to the bathroom and never again will I make that mistake lol. He had pooping issues around 3 as well and took a few months to get him Back on track and find what was right for him
How old is he? Prunes? Apple juice straight not water down. There is more but it just depends on how old he is
I would do prunes if he will actually eat them. You could try bicycling his legs or a tummy message and a warm bath sometimes that helps.
tried bicycling his legs, no luck. He won’t eat prunes sadly. I was thinking a warm bath to relax him.
Is anyone going to judge me for giving my unborn son some McDonalds?
I can go for a burger and some chicken wings right now .
Some people I swear 🙄 I'm just going to sit here and shake my head at you. You are ridiculous. 🖐🏻
I feel so bad for some children with some of the names people choose, don't you think about what your child is going to go thru with some of these names 🤔
