Why are my kids still out of school?

My kids have missed more school time now than when they were remote learning. It’s frustrating to feel like this school does not know what to do and even the teacher said that their protocol isn’t clear week from week. When my son had cold symptoms I followed their protocol and kept them home, informed the school and got them tested. That’s when my son tested positive. Now we got exposed to covid on dec 24 at least that’s when my brother in law tested positive and we had stayed in their home for 5 days already. We had no choice but to travel back home but did our best not being out the car too much. I got tested Monday the 27th I had symptoms. I waited for my results that still have not gotten back yet but I got better and my kids never showed any symptoms. I really hate putting them through that covid testing if they don’t need it. According to their protocol the kids should have been fine returning, but no they think that my kids are asymptomatic or are carrying covid on them and spreading it. Idk how long they will be out cause their results won’t post until 3-5 business days and like I said mine have not yet returned due to so many people testing and the rapid result areas are only testing if they are showing symptoms. This is just very frustrating.
