My heart hurts for my boy. He gets left out of all fun things because grandparent's on his dad side never take him. He enjoys leaving the house, my boy is always home with me. My inlaws have 3 grandkids, 2 which are mine and 1 from their youngest son. They came over today and asked to take (j) my daughter to the pumpkin patch, i swear i heard she wanted to take both of them. I told my huband ask her, she said ohh its because i have (L) their other grandson on the car and where going to eat breakfast. My son has autism hes high functioning hes 4 years old, my heart breaks and how they leave him out of all the kid fun stuff because they dont want to deal with him. Chuckie cheese, the park, pumpkin patch or just outings. They treat him differently! And act like hes not a kid too that deserves all the kid fun.. my heart hurts for my baby boy.

As a mom with a child on the spectrum, I would be really offended if this was happening to my son. Having a child/grandchild on the spectrum isn’t that big of a deal, it’s just that they process information different so sometimes they look a little different. People that choose one child over the other is being discriminating to the other child. That’s not right as well as a bad model

of behavior. I’d put my foot down so 1. They treat each child fairly, and 2. So my child sees I’m his advocate and I’m not havin it.

Yes this makes me so sad 😭. My niece has autism and would

Live at my house if she could lol

She’s obsessed with me in the best way. She’s so sweet and sometimes accidentally calls me mommy when she’s over I’m blessed that she sees me this way cause she isn’t close with just anyone. My sister said if she woke up one morning in my house and I was her mom

And she lived with me she’d be perfectly content 🤣. I say all this because I know how much kids with autism need that love and support. And I’m sure he notices

My sister has two girls on the spectrum, one who is moderate to severe and one who is high functioning. Her MIL tries to pull this all the time and it's an absolute no go from my sister. That's an awful and selfish way for a grandparent to act.

So sorry, but where comes one, comes all. If they want one of my children they accept all..I can understand them being uncomfortable with him alone if he has special needs, but that's where being mom comes in. Offer that if they are uncomfortable bc they don't know how to handle him that anytime they want your daughter he must be invited also and you will tag along to help in case he needs some extra attention for his needs.

I don't understand why they would feel uncomfortable with him alone. They watch them at home no problem, when husband and I go out on a date. That's not the problem, the problem is them not wanting to take him to enjoy all the fun things they take their other 2 grandkids to enjoy. They took him once to the mountains and all she did was complain how much energy he had, but he had fun. It's not like their old grandparents their only 52.

By alone, I meant in the group, but still that doesn't make any sense to me then if they are ok with him at home and not out having fun. I would just keep my children home and make family activities at home that you invite them to and then if they decline it's on them. Not ok to your son to not be involved if he is able to participate safely but is just being ostracized. I'm so sorry this is happening. My little girl just had her ADOS on Tues and the lady told me we would get the official results in two weeks but off the record said that it is obvious she is on the spectrum. Thankfully high functioning, so once we get the right resources I pray it helps us adapt and she gets to fulfill her potential..

That’s just awful! If they can’t both go then no one goes.

I'm at that point, I never had my grandparents growing up. So I never wanted to no allow my kids to see theirs. But my son is getting older he's going to start seeing how their leaving him out of everything. When she walked in, he light up. And that's what caused an argument with my husband.

@ksmommyx3 I am I told my husband I was going to talk to his mom, I'm not a confrontational person. But I'm done with it! If they treat him differently soon my daughter will too.

@michellemybell09 she's going this last time. Because they got her all excited. But from today on out, she's no longer going anywhere unless her brother goes too.

Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no, his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me and did something else with an other girl.... and it's 10:51 am now and he hasn't texted me at all. and after he dropped me off I texted him saying what I felt and nothing. I don't know if I'm over reacting or what or what should i do. do i wait until he text me?

At What Age Should a Child Make Their Own Breakfast?

Make your own breakfast! At what age do you think a child should be making their own breakfast? I have a 10 year old and I think he is perfectly capable of making himself breakfast. It doesn't take rocket science to put some waffles into the toaster, or microwave some pancakes. My husband insists that he needs to have breakfast made for him because if we left it up to him he wouldn't eat enough and it would take him forever.

Transgender children So I just learned that in my kids school district (my kids aren't in school yet my oldest will be starting kindergarten next September) there are twin boys who identify as girls. They are 5 years old. What's your opinions on this matter given they are 5!!! I don't believe that at that age they really understand the whole thing. So the entire school had to take a course on how to handle transgender children. For example they can't say girls go this or boys do that. What are your thoughts on the matter? Do u think the parents are behind this? Idk because I haven't met the parents or children. I just think at 5 it's very young for children to really understand. What do u ladies think?

@itsamemario, you deleted your post before I could hit send but this is my comment: I don’t know if this answers your question but this is my answer. My son is 7 and he knows race and color. Why? Because he himself comes from a family that is multi racial and because he has already experienced racism. I also believe as his mother it’s my job to teach him color and the cold hard truth about society. He knows what’s going on in this world. I’d be hurting him if I allowed him to blindly walk outside without this information. Children of color are being targeted and killed too. It’s not just adults. I let my son know we treat everyone equally and with respect. I let him know that we love everyone for their differences. In every aspect. Color, race, ethnicity, religion, sexual preference we love everyone.
