Question for people who have had Covid. A friend of mine has Covid and she says that she was told after 10 days you’re no longer contagious but they recommend that you don’t get tested again until after 90 days because it’s still in your system. Any truth to this? I’ve never heard of this being a thing but also have never had Covid so maybe it’s true?

Yes 10 days is right IF you don’t have anymore symptoms. The retesting is true for some people, some people will still get positive test but a lot of people don’t! My husband waited 14 days and I’m his test was negative

She’s wanting to make plans and I’m like if the test is still showing positive I don’t want to make plans regardless if it’s contagious or not

yes that’s correct! So employees require you to have a negative test to go back to work

the virus can stay in your body for up to 90 days. as long as it’s been 10 days since either her symptoms started or she tested positive and she hasn’t had a fever for 24 hours she isn’t contagious. This is CDC guidelines.

Yes, I was told it’s very possible it’ll test positive for up to 90 days. My Aunt has had it twice last year and each time she did it was a month before she tested negative.

@dontblockmesis-imjustspeakingfacts, she got it in the very beginning in March and then again last October. My aunt is a hermit too, she only goes to Walmart, Petco and the bank, once a week! She said she’s proof anyone can get it

I quarantined for 14 days just to be sure, but yes the recommendation is 10 days. I still tested positive after 14 days but I had to get on with my life. I still had symptoms for 5 months so it definitely wasn’t an option for my symptoms to go away. Here I am 9 months later and still dealing with long term effects of Covid. Everyone has a different experience.
