I’m legitimately baffled at the people who think their kids should be in school without masks. Are y’all not seeing these numbers? Or are you just pretending everything is fine 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️

FFS

Everyday I have a new friend/acquaintance whose kids school/class whatever is quarantined/back to virtual because of Covid surges.

Legitimate insanity

Unfortunately my district does not require masks. Our community is so anti-mask. When we did not have a mask requirement this year we gained back over 1,000 students district-wide (over 100 students returned to my school!). I would guess that 2ish kids per class actually wear masks. We sent home 15-20 kids today with symptoms (we have a strict symptom free protocol). Just waiting to see how many of them test positive and how many hours of contact tracing I’ll have to do. Everyone here acts like it’s no big deal and that it’s stupid. Parents get mad at me when I make them put on a mask in our building. Our community has managed to stay mostly unscathed from covid until now. It’s about to get bad. There’s only 2 icu beds left in the closest big city.

I am a teacher in a district/state that requires full masking for everyone, thankfully.. We have only been back to school for 4 days, and so many kids are not wearing their masks properly constantly. It’s so stressful. I feel like I am the mask police all day instead of an educator. 😔 I just hope no one gets sick.. but it just comes to show how little parents and adults care about masking at this point, because if they cared more, they would make it a point to discuss the importance of proper mask wearing with their children at home.

@icebergahead, I would say that out of 23 students, I have about 5 or so who are constantly not wearing them properly. I mean nose or nose and mouth out all day long. I redirect them and they fix it for about 2 minutes and then it’s right back to it. It’s a constant battle. It’s very frustrating, and causes me a lot of worry.

This is the constant worry. Dd knows how to properly mask but will everyone else? While parents are not around to say so?

My daughter school been back for 4 days too. She came home the second day telling me a lot of kids in her class had their nose out their mask an I ask her if she was wearing her properly an she said yes. Keep telling her it's very important to have it on properly in order to protect her. She was virtual last year an I saw how kids had their nose out the mask or kids even picking their nose.🤦‍♀️ teachers could do some much. With her teacher telling kids to put the mask over their nose an water spills they didnt do much in class. I just have the issue with my daughter grabbing everything an touching her face when out in public. Send her to school with a hand sanitizer for her personal use only an wasn't allowed cuz their kids highly allergic to them.

I don’t get the lack of social responsibility on this one. Then again we have the Lt. Gov of Texas blaming the surge on black people so nothing really makes sense. It’s ridiculous because it’s just a mask and people screaming freedom. Don’t even get me started on freedoms because I could really go there between racism and women’s rights

Damn shame! Talk about doing what is best to protect your offsprings😩

That includes the Governors telling you what to do with your kid’s safety.

Shame on those, especially the guy running Florida.

My kids school makes everyone wear a mask despite vaccination status. My kids got exposed outside of school. But I got an email that a kid was positive and exposed other 4 th graders.

Like if your child was exposed or sick just keep them home!

I kept Aubrey home even without a single symptom. It's not that hard of a damn concept

My child wears his mask ALL day and is sadly in the minority at school. He WANTS to wear it, we've been open and honest with him about what's going on in the world.

He now keeps a spare in his bag because his was broken on the first day of school by an ASSHOLE-yes Vera, I just called your 6 year old an asshole-RIPPED it off his face and broke the ear strap! 🤬 TALK about a PISSED off Mama! We had problems with this brat last year and his Neanderthal parents. He hassles Kai for havin long hair, tells him he's a girl, he's gonna marry him, tries kissing him....just an ANNOYING little shit with the meanest spirit and closed off mind. He's SIX.....five when this shit started, this is learned behavior. ANYWAY....I'm soapboxing. It all goes back to their damn parents is all I'm sayin. 🤷‍♀️

@leonardsquared, I would coach Kai on how and when to report it to the teachers, duty, another trusted adult, etc. I’d also call the teacher and/or principal each time something happens. This absolutely meets the definition of bullying and, at this point with the repeated pattern of behavior, I would have started suspending this student.

This REALLY is our biggest issue with respect to him developing some conflict resolution skills of his own. He is havin some MAJOR issues with speakin up. He's, in his little mind, trying to not be a "tattletale", or give him a reason to hassle him more. That's just so damn sad to me! His teacher isn't always the one on duty for recess and things always seem to happen on the days she's not out there, which I find even MORE horrifying! To me that just proves right there the little shit is doing this maliciously and premeditated. It's like he KNOWS Kai is comfortable with his teacher or something.

You're right though, 100%, that is ABSOLUTELY an area we need to get him more confident in! 🙌

They are pretending everything is fine. They don’t trust vaccines and think they should be able to choose whether or not they wear a mask. It’s honestly fucking absurd to me. I do not understand.

I am enjoying reading all the headlines from antivax and antimaskers on their death beds pleading for people to get vaccinated. To me it’s just one less person spreading misinformation and I have zero sympathy.

Transgender children So I just learned that in my kids school district (my kids aren't in school yet my oldest will be starting kindergarten next September) there are twin boys who identify as girls. They are 5 years old. What's your opinions on this matter given they are 5!!! I don't believe that at that age they really understand the whole thing. So the entire school had to take a course on how to handle transgender children. For example they can't say girls go this or boys do that. What are your thoughts on the matter? Do u think the parents are behind this? Idk because I haven't met the parents or children. I just think at 5 it's very young for children to really understand. What do u ladies think?
