2nd email saying a kid has COVID at my kids school and it’s only day 2?! We now have the option to go back to virtual learning which I think I honestly will do. However, I feel so baddd. They were so excited for school this year and making friends. I’m probably gonna cry when I tell them the news.😭 life really sucks sometimes.
Omg! My girls don’t start school until sept and I’m really dreading it for this exact same reason. We had covid in December and I got it the worst. Thinking that it’s time to get the vaccine but also afraid since I’m still struggling with heart issues
@harleyquinn13, I develop heart issues due to covid. Doing better now just afraid of any side affects of the vaccine.
Girl it’s definitely scary sending the kids to school especially since you cannot guarantee the younger ones will keep the mask on and social distance. And when my sister had Covid it took a toll on her body so much I can’t even imagine kids going through that she was miserable. Glad to hear you and your babies recovered that must’ve been really hard for y’all.
please talk to your doctor and see what they say! I would think they would strongly encourage it. ❤️❤️
I am so sorry. It does absolutely suck. These kiddos (nationwide) deserved so much more than irresponsible adults gave them.
It’s also crazy how many parents are refusing to get vaccinated. I was shocked hearing that a good amount of the kids that go to my kids school have parents that weren’t vaccinated or even considering it. They clearly don’t care about their kids or their future.
right?!? I would get vaccinated once a month if it would mean normal for these kids. :( it was no big deal. People make it into so much more than it is.
Just curious if your school has a mask mandate or not? My daughter is starting school next week and I'm so nervous but masks are mandatory (regardless of vaccination status) so I'm hoping that will help

Yes we have a mask mandate except during lunch. They seat 3 kids at a table two spaces apart from each other. I am assuming this is probably how kids are getting it. My kids also go to a k-12 charter school so one of the kids that tested positive is in high school and teenagers typically don’t like following “rules” so this is just how I believe this student may have gotten it.
yeah I totally get it. The high school in our district is thankfully in a different building since their numbers were through the roof last year
I'm so sorry to hear that. I'm always refreshing my email worry I get one of those emails. So far we're on day 4 of school an nothing. 🙏🤞 my daughter very happy an excited to be back too. I feel you on crying when you tell them but at least they will be safer home at the moment. Wish I could keep my daughter home till all this mess gets better. But I dont see it coming anytime soon.😔
Fingers crossed your baby stays safe! I hate the idea of keeping them home because they need that interaction but like you said better safe than sorry and with a new born on the way I really don’t want to risk it. I plan on just making it as fun as possible for them at home.
yes they do. My daughter was the online doing virtual in her class last year an shes so excited to be back an so is her friend. Yes you wouldn't want that around an newborn. Yes thats all we could do for them. Have a feeling till spring things will start to be better.😔 let's hope not an it happens soon.🙏🙏
I got a notice of a covid positive student in another classroom today too. The first one was on the first day of week 3. Zay just got back to school from getting COVID before school started, geez! Sadly, this is just the beginning.
Do they have mask mandate? Glad to hear your baby recovered and doing well now. It’s definitely not going to go away until more people get vaccinated or atleast start taking the right precautions
oh of course I’m in CA so we definitely have that mask mandate. The classrooms have an individual set up outside to eat lunch and snacks, and they separate where recess is daily so classrooms don’t mingle. I was fully vaccinated in March and still got it. I do believe with my conditions like diabetes that it could’ve been much worse had I not been vaccinated. I hope more people take social responsibility more seriously especially now that Pfizer is FDA approved
I'm doing cyber school again for my two. The transportation service is mandating masks on the busses but once they get to school masks are voluntary for kids and teachers.
Are they atleast requiring the teachers and school officials to be vaccinated?
I wish mine would notify people or wen I ask them questions they would tell me straight up smh my daughters school has had 3 staff test positive not sure wen they claim to not know anything about it and 1 student positive and swear the whole school got notified I sure as shit didn't I only know because of the info I had to search n search for on the district website and then they wanna ask me how did I know to call and ask about the positive cases if I wasn't notified um because this school doesn't communicate well at all so I have to do my own research daily and I'm supposed to trust my kids health in there hands smh they don't offer anything except in person. I'll probly be locked up the way this year already going lol like I'm not trying to send my kid to this shit
Have you looked into homeschooling programs for this year? That’s ridiculous that they aren’t notifying you. Definitely raises concern and I wouldn’t want my kid there. But I think every school needs to offer virtual learning due to these circumstances This shouldn’t be your only option and it’s like you really don’t have a choice. Hopefully it just ends soon and I pray your babies stay safe this school year.
Transgender children So I just learned that in my kids school district (my kids aren't in school yet my oldest will be starting kindergarten next September) there are twin boys who identify as girls. They are 5 years old. What's your opinions on this matter given they are 5!!! I don't believe that at that age they really understand the whole thing. So the entire school had to take a course on how to handle transgender children. For example they can't say girls go this or boys do that. What are your thoughts on the matter? Do u think the parents are behind this? Idk because I haven't met the parents or children. I just think at 5 it's very young for children to really understand. What do u ladies think?
School fees Having an intense debate on Facebook about school fees for public school. I'm in the "stop whining about school fees and stop having kids if you can't afford them" camp and there is the other camp of "free school is a constitutional right! It's bull s*** we have to pay anything at all".
So the kids were in direct contact with someone at school with Covid. I asked was it the last time they were at school which was yesterday or was it a week ago? Their response was "we can't say." 🥴 ** they have to quarantine until Tuesday. 🤭
So apparently this kid at my sisters high school, stripped down to his underwear and ran around the school. 🤭
