So the kids were in direct contact with someone at school with Covid. I asked was it the last time they were at school which was yesterday or was it a week ago? Their response was "we can't say." 🥴

** they have to quarantine until Tuesday. 🤭

So how the heck are you supposed to know how long the kids should quarantine or how long you should be checking for symptoms? That is silly. I tell parents the last time of contact down the hour if I know it. Then I let them know how long to quarantine. Not sure why they can’t tell you.

Oh he told us to quarantine till Tuesday...... I'm guessing it's still 14 days kinda thing. It threw me off, it's just a few more days. I had 500 things running through my head.

@scidg3, The CDC shortened the quarantine time to 10 days if close contacts don’t display any symptoms. So if their quarantine ends on Tuesday, then exposure was most likely on Friday 1/22. Tomorrow is probably their day 7. This isn’t 100% but a ballpark given the info you’ve given. It’s really likely the positive person just got their results today.

Okay, 10 days makes total sense! That was the last time they had contact.

That’s strange.. my child came in contact at school and I got an email from the principal as well as an email from public health stating the last day of exposure. I also received a call from public health to make sure I understood my child was legally required to quarantine at home until a certain date and they would call to release her. She tested negative but was still required to quarantine due to exposure and the date she was released was 14 days from last exposure so they should definitely be required to tell you that.

They gave me a quarantine date, it just seems really short. Feb 2nd. So I'm guessing they are just really late on getting in contact with ppl.

They are supposed to tell you the last time they had a class with that person ,they did when my high school son had 1 kid in his class with it but, they don’t disclose names luckily my son tested negative and they called on a Sunday afternoon and the last time the kid had same class was a Thursday so it is a strange process of when they tell you how fast and details

m00my2five

Stephanie

No, this school is already on my shirt list thinking I want names for things. Lol they wouldn't give me a contact date they just told me to quarantine until the 2nd.

@scidg3, that’s not enough days for me unless you found out earlier right supposed to be 14 full days and if someone close to you in contact has it and let’s say a test comes back positive in 10 days u retest at least that’s what they do in Miami where we have the highest numbers in all of Fl

m00my2five

Stephanie

that's why I asked, but I'm guessing their contacting time is just really late. Idk, when I ask this school questions they give me run arounds and claim they can't give me more info. Like I'm asking for the positive person's name and blood type.

Hope all your children will be okay and do you plan to all get tested our urgent cares do them

At this point no, no point when I don't have a ton of info. Off what they told me Tuesday is when they could go back. By now, I would think we would start to be feeling something. I'll just wait for symptoms and go from there. Honestly if I don't have to test them I wouldn't. I know they have been in contact so there's a chance.

@scidg3, yeah the tests at urgent care are the gnarly ones that go way into your nose. So at this point you’re right. Testing is not necessary. Doing the quarantine and staying safe is the best thing right now.

Seems like they have to get the info out quicker but I hope you all are safe and do not have it.

You should call the public health dept. that’s not how it’s supposed to work. Obviously they cannot tell you who tested positive but contact tracing is for letting you know the date, at the very least, that the person was in contact. I’d also keep your kids out longer..

momgroupreject

Mamabirdddd

@scidg3, the public health dept will have all of the information either way, they are who notifies the school of positive tests.

momgroupreject

Mamabirdddd

@scidg3, are they wearing masks at school?

m00my2five

Stephanie

No, they don't but the adults are supposed to. They don't leave their class and they make up half the class.

That doesn’t make any sense. They need to tell you when that person tested positive or first showed symptoms and then what day they came into contact with your kids. Quarantine should be 14 days not 5 days. I’d probably keep them home longer just in case and get them tested before going back. When I got Covid in November I kept both of my kids home for a full 2 weeks even though neither of them had symptoms.

m00my2five

Stephanie

I'm going to call the health dept tomo and see if they will give me any info. Yea, if you were positive, you'd definitely have to keep your kids home. If that were our case, I would test and retest so we would know and not infect ppl but they came in contact so unless they show symptoms I'm not traumatizing them.

2sweetie

Melinda Westad

@scidg3, I don’t feel like it was traumatizing at all. My son didn’t really have any reaction and my daughter felt uncomfortable but hasn’t mentioned it since. It’s so quick. And actually now they changed the test swabs and they’re much thicker so they don’t go up as far in your nose. I tested 2 weeks ago and I barely felt anything.

I’ve just had to do this with my two. The oldest is back in school (as of yesterday) and the youngest goes back to nursery next Monday. My daughter had to quarantine for 10 days as one of the workers in her nursery contracted the virus but my son and I technically didn’t have to. I rang the school and asked what they would like us to do and they said they would rather we all isolated together so we did. The start date for the isolation was from the day the lady went home with COVID symptoms

I'm glad you're littles were okay!

@scidg3, thank you, I’m so relieved that we are all ok ! Hopefully we can remain that way until they’re able to come up with a way of effectively controlling this

Looking back to when you were still in high school, are you where you thought you would be in life?
