So I just ordered some compression socks for my feet because for some odd reason theres swelling around ankles. Apparently I injured them somehow by just walking/exercing or it could be from shoes. Sadly, I've ignored it for months because of pandemic. I was still able to walk and didnt think it was a real problem but the pain has lingered. Finally saw a doc and he said its the tendon or ligaments that have been impacted. Expects me to just stay in bed resting. So damn impossible when you have 2 small kids, and a job. Hoping this works. I feel like this problem will never heal. Fml I hope I dont need surgery at some point. Has anyone had this problem?

@melinanae If the hose aren't bothering you and better shoes help, you can go with that for a while. Then when you try to go without and if it returns, see a PT.

Never had covid. I was walking a lot before covid pandemic. I feel like I may have overworked my feet by walking further and longer and probably without proper walking shoes. I dont think I had the proper shoe fit for walking. Then once the ankles felt too sore I decided not to walk that far again. Pandemic hit a few weeks after which didnt allow me to walk at all because I didnt know what the heck was happening in the world lol. Just wondering if I injured it and when I switched shoes, I may have made it worse or something? Not sure at all. Very weird. So I was wondering if maybe I should give it a few more weeks before orthopedic now that I feel less pain with these newest shoes and socks but it worries me that what if there is a fracture and I'm here walking on it some more since theres just no way I can be on bed rest. UGH It's just a mess, I sound like a crazy lady LOL. Thank you for listening though...😊🙏
Also, I couldn't tell from.how you worded it. Did you mean you walked more before covid was a danger or that you walked more before you personally caught covid?
It really sucks to not know what is going on which is why I'm debating if I should suck it up and get an xray done at an orthopedic.
Did he recommend a PT? Compression socks won't fix the problem, just mask it.
I do feel less stressed w the socks and with new shoes. I think it's helping. My doc told me to take 2 aleaves in morning/night to help with swelling. So Idk what else to do besides see orthopedic for peace of mind I guess.

Did he do any blood work or ekg? There are a lot of reasons for ankle swelling, it's unusual to bilaterally have an ankle injury you don't remember. I was a rehab director for 15 years and that was never a cause of bilateral ankle swelling that I saw.
😳😳😳do you recommend I see an orthopedic instead? I worry that I may be waiting for too long. I felt the same as far as both feet. I've have bloodwork done as well. Nothing abnormal accept for low iron. No RA, Lupus, or MS. (I was thinking the worse). I do remember walking once for too long one time which did start the pain in ankles. But it was on and off so I believed it will heal. Ugh Idk I'm just worried that I may be aggravating it everytime I walk.
@melinanae I would see an ortho or a PT. You may have a gait deviation or your feet may be everted or inverted and an orthotic in your shoe may help. I just think compression hose is sort of like duct taping the situation, I don't know if it will fix the underlying cause. It's just my two cents! I worked alongside a great DPT (Dr of PT) and he could address so many things to get people moving with less pain.
