Can I take a moment to brag about my sweetness.

This boy is amazing. Talented. Smart. Things (especially school) come so natural to him.
This year he tried out for the school team (it’s mostly 7th and 8th graders) and guess what he didn’t make it. It was hard on him. He was crushed.
Missed the cut BUT the coaches saw potential and how coachable Dakota is so they gave him a chance. Let him practice and workout with the team and keep that bench warm. Showing up to every practice and game giving his all. Even getting to play in a few games. Well yesterday these boys played a hell of a game. It was the best I’ve ever seen, pulling together bringing home that W.

Dakota was on cloud nine. He was unsure about staying with the team in the beginning but I told him this is how you build character and shows who you are. You’re gonna stick by your team if you sit on the bench all season or if you play every game and guess what he did and I’m so proud. “Mom I know I can do anything” was all he kept saying. That made it worth it.

Moral of the story was you may not be the all star but every position in life from the water boy to pitcher is just as valuable. How are you show up every day shows your character.

I grew up playing basketball and softball from 3rd grade on...I ended up being captain of both as a junior, cheerleading and track captain too. Sports give you discipline and confidence. If it weren't for me in sports I know I wouldn't have maintained an AB average in school, I wouldn't have graduated third in my class & I would have been on drugs and an alcoholic way sooner than 18. See, I graduated at 17, I made the choice to not play sports in college, I thought they'd distract me from my studies. Biggest mistake of my life. Without sports I went wild, I started drinking heavy, smoking pot then tried coke, X, shrooms, xannies, oxys etc etc. I became wild as could be without that discipline in my life that I lacked from my parents.

This all being said, keep on going Dakota❤️ hang in there. He will do great things🙏

@mommiesgoneabitmad yes girl! It's very hard even now, my weakness now is stupid things like strawberry shortcake and dr.pepper 🥴

But seriously, God can and will take us outta that lifestyle if we truly desire to be free! I think it's amazing what I was brought out of, looking back on my past self I shouldn't be alive TBH.

I love what u wrote here and he seems like such a good sweet boy. I also love that baseball season started. My boys started last week. My oldest is probably the best on the team but he’s playing with some younger kids so he know when he should be more careful with them. Hope u all enjoy baseball season as much as we do!

@mommiesgoneabitmad thank you Robin. It's embarrassing how much I lacked self control. My parents should have done better. I honestly needed my butt whooped more times than they gave me. I have a very addicting personality & if it weren't for receiving the Holy Ghost back 7 years ago, I'd be on the same road to destruction and hell!!

@heatherlou88, girl preaching to the choir self control is no joke pair it with any sort of mental thing it’s a battle.
It’s amazing to see what God does with the ash we give him.
Honestly though your story is something to write about! People can relate to the struggle more than the perfect Facebook post

I didn’t grow up playing sports, but now as a mom with a child in two different sports, I see just how valuable it is to his development. So many life lessons are learned on the field or rink! Congratulations to your son for his perseverance and hard work! 🙌

That is a wonderful story of perseverance and you are so right! If we quit everything we aren't amazing at, we miss so much in life! <3

It’s so true! We wouldn’t have so many of the inventions we do today if they gave up the first, second, or tenth time!
