Should easily work. I always send it to my email then click the link.and go from there when I get my gmail set up on my new phone..works every time for me.
If it’s under the same account they previously downloaded it from they can go to their app section on iPhone it’s purchased and it will give you a list of all the app you have ever downloaded. I restarted my phone and that’s how I was able to get it back.
