Any breastfeeding moms have weaning advice ? My almost 2 year old doesn’t want to stop and throws tantrums when I tell him no. My breast have been super sore and He’s bitting not on purpose but when he falls asleep feeding and I have to wait until I can pull away.

I gave him almond milk instead of breast as the option. It took 3 days and then he was over it.

My daughter stopped at 2yr 6 mo and my son at 2 yr 8 mo. My daughter did it on her own but my son I had to make the decision because I didn’t want to go to age 3. You’ll start to hurt when you become engorged and don’t nurse. That’s why it’s good to wean gradually so your supply can gradually decrease. You can nurse once a day for like a week and after your supply has decreased you can try to stop. You can just do bedtime only if that’s best for you
That’s what I was thinking night time only. We been doing nap time and night time and I cut the feelings in half. I tried the first 2 days cold turkey it was painful so we are going to do it Gradually.
@luv_2b_amomma, that sounds great! Great job! 💪
Drop one feeding at a time. That’s how I did it with my kids and I let them mostly self wean. My daughter stopped at 2 yrs 6 mo and my son at 2 yrs 8 mo. To me cold turkey is cruel and also not good for your boobs because you will be hurting bad. Try to figure out which feedings you mostly need to drop, like can you cut him down to just morning and bedtime? I did that for a long time and it was nice.
How long did it take for them to stop completely? I’m wanting him to be done soon because the pain and bitting is becoming too much. Do your boobs really start hurting ? I didn’t know that. Any advice on what to do when that starts? I definitely want to cut you the morning feeding or nap time feeding. He gets morning, afternoon sometimes, nap time and nighttime.
We are slowly weaning her also snd my breast can not adjust they hurt so much
I’m sorry to hear that. Mine are sore as well. Sometimes I’m lucky to skip morning feeding and they hurt like crazy and makes nap time feeding more painful .
@luv_2b_amomma, do you just feel like your so ready to just be done and over .
@alishap1212, yesss !!!! I am so ready to be done with it. I enjoyed it so much at first but now it’s just a nightmare .
Gotta be tuff did it 5 years and that’s too long cold turkey won’t hurt him find something else for him to do
@kush_queen420, thank you ! I hope this goes by fast I’m going to start tomorrow please wish me luck!
@luv_2b_amomma, aww you can do it girl you will feel better 😘
@kush_queen420, thank you so much hun ! I appreciate the support and encouragement 🥰
I gave him almond milk instead of breast as the option. It took 3 days and then he was over it.
@alishap1212, great idea! I haven’t tried that! I will have to pull my pump out and try this tomorrow.
@luv_2b_amomma, good luck . My little one takes to whole milk fine already . Thankfully. I just need to get my breast adjusting when she skips a feeding I almost want to offer milk at that time just bc of the pain . At times I’m ready to just take suffade and dry my self up and be done
@alishap1212, I wasn’t aware that it would hurt until now ! Mine have been hurting since weaning him off of it. I hope it changes soon. It’s not fun especially when it’s already sore from pregnancy
I did cold turkey. After about a week and a half she stopped asking.
@iwetmyplants, lol OMG me too!! I’m like I can’t do this anymore. I told myself we would for 4 years but that just isn’t going to work out lol
@luv_2b_amomma, Yep do what’s best for you and don’t feel guilty if you quit. I can’t stand people that try to shame moms for not liking breastfeeding.
@iwetmyplants, I completely agree ! I have heard it all from some family about me wanting to stop and trying to make me feel bad I’m like this is my body ! He is almost 2 and going to be ok. Thank you hun !
I went to night feedings for a while then cut them off slowly
@hakunamafuckitall, oh no!! I’m sorry 😞 no nap time. I wouldn’t know what to do with myself lol
@luv_2b_amomma haha yeah it wasn't to bad just bcuz I didn't sleep much anyways at the time she was up every 2 hours as well
@hakunamafuckitall, oh wow something to look forward to again. I’ve been loving sleeping all night.
I recently just stopped it was the same with my son he always wanted it and would bite on accident and sometimes on purpose .. i was mentally and physically over it so I quit cold turkey and after 4 days he was fine and forgot about it. It’s been 3 weeks so far and it’s been amazing 🥲!
@flamingfiremom, No I don’t give birth until August 11th. You are seeing my last pregnancy that I lost in September I just didn’t want to remove it from my page.
@luv_2b_amomma, aww I’m sorry . Have u started trying to wean him? if so how’s it going?
@flamingfiremom, thank you ! I have started it’s been horrible. He used to sleep through the night and take 3 hour naps and not he’s waking up at night crying asking for milk and nap time has been a hour . He ask all day long. I been thinking of just giving him nap and night and cutting it short .
At that age, I would suggest stopping cold turkey like the others have suggested. If you don’t want to do that, drop one feed every few days.
I try and I keep giving in feeling bad but I’m so over my boobs hurting .
Cold turkey here too 🙋🏽♀️ It felt like there was no compromising with a child dependent on the comfort of mother’s milk.
How long did it take your baby to stop asking ? Did you replace your milk with another milk ?
@luv_2b_amomma I’d say about 3 days. One night was rough on me because she woke up so defeated and just whined about it (baby sad face) but I rocked her back and forth until she fell asleep and that was it. Never again.
@m0mmy, wow I’m praying for a smooth transition like this. I am going to not give in and tell myself it’s for the best.
I tried to ween and it was hard so I just cut cold turkey. Took 3 days for him to stop asking for it completely! It’s hard to not want to give in when they ask but if you’re firm and keep saying no they’ll stop asking for it
@lexhernandez, that’s a great idea! Thank you. I will do this first thing in the morning and add it to the milk I post this helps because he hasn’t been taking weaning well.
@luv_2b_amomma, I hope it helps too! Don’t forget it’s a huge transition for him he’s had your milk his whole life so it’ll take time for him to want and take something else! But keep with it you’re doing great 🥰
@lexhernandez, Thank you so much ! I appreciate it.
