I have had both- the main difference for me was recovery after my elective was sooo much better- like I felt 100% after only two weeks with my emergency I really struggled xx

Thanks hun. I think I'm pretty sure I want an elective now. Xx

Had both. Emergency c section was scary as I was told I needed one and within 20 minutes I was in theatre being cut open, I didn't really have time to process it, it was a contributor in my PND after. My 2nd was much calmer, was even joking with the anaesthetists, they even stitched me up better!

Thanks hun for sharing your experience. Yes my first was an emergency after a 7 day induction which failed. I was sooo exhausted. This time round I want to be a bit more prepared. What was your recovery like with both of them ???

@gemini95 sorry only just replied. Recovery after elective was much much better, my emergency c section the wound got infected and started opening up I had community nurses coming in every day to dress it. Took like 3 months to fully heal. Elective was fully healed by 5 weeks.

Emergency csections are usually done fast so you may be put to sleep instead of numbed

There’s just more rush and could be more nerve wracking for you

For planned you are given a date to come in and they will go over everything with you

Everything is more relaxed

You’ll be given a spinal block

@gemini95, In terms of recovery it varies for everyone regardless of emergency or planned

My sister had a VBAC after her emergency

It wasn’t a planned VBAC she gave birth early in an ambulance

It’s entirely up to you,

But if I was in your position I’d probably have a csection just because that’s what I’d be familiar with Xx

I had both

My 1st was an emergency and wasn’t to bad had to have 4 lots of spinal tho as I could feel everything 😫

My 2nd was planned c section and wasn’t to bad after the 2nd lot of spinal I couldn’t feel anything

my recovery was abit of pain tho as I kept having skin infections

@gemini95, it’s more relaxed than an emergency as it’s a very clam part , the only thing was my mum never cut my sons cord it was the doctor that done it

I preferred it to my 1st definitely as it was just very scary and where my daughter didn’t make a noise at all when she was born which was stressful

With my son screamed straight away and it’s just like a sigh of relief in a way I was going to do a Vbac but I couldn’t cope no longer with the pain I was in

I had my son at 39 weeks and 5 days xx
