Does anyone’s kids walk on their toes? My 2 year old does it a lot so we keep shoes on him 24/7. My 3 year old started copying him but now it seems like she’s doing it without even realizing, I don’t know what to do😫

Depending how much she does it I would try to make her stop ik a girl that walked like that and needed surgery to fix it bcuz her muscles didn't grow right so now im super paranoid

I’m scared my 2 year old might need it because he’s walked like this since he started walking😐 but shoes seem to help with him!

have him wear them more.
And as annoying and repetitive as it is correct ot everytime. My daughter started it and evertime id say we walk on our feet or toes and heals she eventually stopped

@hakunamafuckitall, thank you I definitely will give it a try!

If you’re okay with wearing shoes in the house, it’s harder to walk on tip toes with them on and forces them to walk more normal. If you’re extremely concerned, contact a local pediatric PT for an eval. Even if your kids don’t qualify for PT, evals are usually free and the PT will send you home with ideas and tricks. YouTube also has a lot of at-home PT ideas and I’m sure tip toe walking solutions could be found there.
My oldest did it forever and thankfully just wearing shoes regularly helped. But now my youngest is doing it and we JUST graduated from PT in October. I don’t want to have to go back, but will if necessary.

My 2 year old is autistic so he does it because of sensory problems, like you said the shoes do help. I’m pretty sure my daughter started doing it to copy him because he gets attention from me correcting the behavior non stop. I just don’t want it to be a habit for her when she’s never done it before.

my oldest has SPD (and oral and verbal apraxia, and fine motor issues) so I get it. I’ve been told by his OT that PT can help even if it’s sensory related. I can’t tell if my little guy is doing it because of big brother or because he is showing signs of sensory struggles too. We dealt with retained reflexes too, he W sits and also has started rocking. I’m waiting to schedule an eval with a neuro until he’s closer to 2, but I just have a feeling in my gut he’s going to be back in therapy.
Uhhhh·
Both my kids do it ....
Apparently it's a family thing.
My husband's mom and sister both walk on their toes..

Speaking as the mother of an autistic child. Toe walking is a classic sign of autism.
Of course toe walking by itself doesn't automatically mean autism. But it could mean there's some sensory issues.
As a side note.. My middle nephew had apraxia when he was younger but has grown out of it. He's 13 years old now and speaks quite well but he does have some light and sound sensitivity. Also his younger brother is autistic.

Thanks! I’m not scared she has autism I just think it’s for attention at this point. My sons autistic and I know it’s a sensory with him but the shoes seem to be helping for now. I hope he outgrows it but we’ll see!
