Would you let your children get their hair colored at a young age? When I was a kid my parents were very strict, I couldn’t do anything with my hair or get piercings until I was 18 & out the house. I don’t think I’ll do the same with my kids.

My oldest wanted her ends dyed a light chocolate color and I didn't mind. It was tastefully done and looked appropriate to me. She was extremely pleased with it so I was as well. Here's the thing every child is different so the things that I wasn't interested in might be the things that she's interested in. Dying my hair wasn't something that interested me at her age but it interests her so as long as her requests are within reason and she also abides by her priorities at home, I don't mind accommodating them. For me it's simply about wanting my girls to truly enjoy their childhood but I understand that everyone's household is not the same..to each their own.

As a kid I had two holes in each ear and my mom bleached and colored my hair A LOT! I never asked for any of that. I blame her for the way it is now lol but I will work with my kids on whatever choice they want to do. Idk about bleaching hair though since I’m scared of it. Maybe when they are in their teens I’ll take them to a professional for that.

I've used color hair gel and spray for my oldest. She likes mommy's colored hair but I don't want anything too permanent for her.

The spray on or glittery spray I’d probably would let my kid around 5. Actual permanent dye probably not until 15-16. Maybe 10.

Honestly I got my first piercing besides ears at 15 I pierced my own cartilage at 11 lol my mom freaked out. I think everything within reason like nothing permanent maybe like the spray colors that wash out

I’ve been letting my girls dye the ends of their hair blue or pink with that Splat dye that washes out in a couple weeks. My mom was super strict on me about stuff like that and when I turned 18, I dyed my hair bright red and it was awful. I spent almost $200 getting it fixed. I let them do things within reason so that it takes the “fun” out of it, lol and they don’t feel the need to rebel.

My parents let me dye my hair at a young age. Both told me they’d rather me get hot pink hair (which I did) than get a tattoo at 16. 😂 hair grows back. Hair was a way for me to express creativity as early as 10.

Oh! But, I was also educated on the damage that came with it. My moms best friend was a hair dresser so it was like a reward for good grades and all that to do something drastic.

Not until they are at least 13, and even then it really depends what they want to do to it.

I use overtone conditioning dye on my two sisters and myself. It’s vegan, washes out after a few weeks and it’s a fun change for them. I wouldn’t bleach or do anything permanent, but I don’t think there’s an issue with a temporary expression of self thru a little color.

I've seen this! Aubrey wants pink hair so I thought about this for her during the summer (since school won't allow it) I want something that washes out and isn't harsh on her hair

No bleach until your closer to being an adult because it’s so damaging. But I’m all for fun hair colors if you want them. The wild color dyes are very gentle on hair. I’ve been thinking about trying overtone myself 🤔

Lol, my oldest asked to color his hair pink. I had to say no because it's against school dress code or I would've did the wash out after a few washes dye.

As long as it’s professionally done and taken care of. I would let them do anything themselves.
