For me this pandemic has been a blessing and it sounds weird or crazy to say that since this year hasn’t been kind to many people.

For my situation it is a nice break from my sons school since they have been very toxic with me in the past. Kindergarten was the worst. From 2017-2018 that year was hell for my son and I. Since the beginning his kindergarten teacher disliked me and picked on me from the start. She first picked on me because I didn’t donate any money to the school. It wasn’t mandatory but she said it was. Then because I didn’t join the parent teacher committee she said I don’t care about my son. She called me selfish for going to college and claiming that I am neglecting my son because I’m not giving him undivided attention by going to school. 🤦🏻‍♀️She was just mad that every time they would call me to pick him up that I was far from home. I couldn’t run to every command they told me. If it wasn’t an emergency what was the need to run there? I used to go to my college in the morning, so that way I figured it would be easy to pick him up after I finish my classes. Well the school used to harass me for bs all the time to pick him up. He’s scratching himself he must have chicken pox. He’s coughing, well he has allergies and asthma. I used to waste time and money bringing him to numerous appointments. The school nurse that time harassed me as well. When I told them that he has eczema they didn’t believe it. I had to keep getting proof from the doctors just to shut them up. I made a mistake and was too honest with his teacher. One time I told her I was under a lot of stress and that’s why I forgot to send a letter that was needed. When I told her about some problems I was having with court cases from my fathers other family, she said that I should not go to court but on the court papers if I didn’t show up I would have been arrested so I wasn’t gonna listen to her. She called me selfish too because I put a restraining order for my son and I against my dads ex and my half siblings. She said I’m only thinking about myself when I was thinking about the safety of my son as well.

I realize that it’s best not to tell the school everything and not be too honest. Just to keep it short and not mention anything private so that way you don’t get judged. They only make judgements about you and you give them power with your life.

Another time his kindergarten teacher claimed that my son has autism. He doesn’t. He has adhd but he is very shy when he is in school. She then claimed that wasn’t normal and asked me numerous times if I’m raping my son because he is so shy in school. That was a big slap to my face since I was raped when I was a kid. I honestly felt like strangling her. Just cause someone is shy doesn’t mean automatically that is happening. I was worse than my son. I was super shy growing up and didn’t like looking at people in the face but nothing happened to me because I was like that. If anything unfortunately that just made me an easy target. Anyway I broke down and cried multiple times because of that teacher and the school nurse. Then they claimed I was abusing my son. The nurse said oh your son has a mark on his knee are you beating him? I was like um he fell down you know kids love running around. They said all kinds of bogus claims that I wish I could have sued them for. It didn’t help that when he got sick to his stomach that’s when the school got cps on me that time. It was a very hard year and I had to go to court a lot because my fathers crazy ex wife and crazy older children kept threatening us. I was running around everywhere like crazy and my anxiety got worse that year. I also developed IBS because of my sons school and my dads ex. Till this day I still get sick to my stomach multiple times a day. Pretty much anything I eat can get me sick even the most healthiest meal. When they switched his class the last 2 months of kindergarten and put him with the special ed class that teacher was even worse. For any little thing she threatened to report me. My son ripped off 2 buttons off his shirt one day while he was in school and she claimed I was sending him to school almost naked. He would wear clean and new clothes all the time and she claimed neglect. Until I threatened to report her one day and I complained to the principal about it, then she shut up and was fake with me pretending to be nice.

Thank god things got better when he was in 1st grade and 2nd grade except the other school nurse kept bothering. Unfortunately my reputation is ruined. Not that I should care about that but it does hurt when I get dirty looks. I feel like I’m not welcomed there and I don’t care to make friends with anyone there. I feel so uncomfortable going to that school. I get dirty looks from one mother specifically. My son use to play with her son for a short time. They were in the same kindergarten class. She was his kindergarten teachers favorite parent because she was seen as perfect. As soon as she heard that I had cps on me, she treated me like dirt. Ignoring me, giving me dirty looks, she’s a very immature person. One time there was a school Christmas party and she was talking crap to other parents and a couple of people turned to look at me. I’m glad that I’m not around her and she’s not perfect like she claims. A lawyer told me that I could have honestly sued the school and that parent for defamation of character because my main job is only to bring my kid to school and pick him up to go home. Not to have my reputation ruined and people thinking poorly of me. I don’t care about trying to be friends with anyone there or hang out. Unfortunately that year I went through a lot of hell so I barely would have had time if I made a case. I wish I did and I also wish that I spoke to the board of ed about the harassment. I still feel sour towards my sons school. There is definitely favoritism there. Unfortunately the only other schools around here are over crowded and one school got in trouble for covering up for an abusive teacher so I figure I might as well just suck it and let him finish the last few years here. My sons pediatrician and doctors dislike the school for what my son and I went through. At least thank god they were on my side and had the proof every time I would bring my son. His 2nd grade teachers were nice but they kept pushing for him to be on Ritalin but I refused. 🙄 He doesn’t need that. So in a way I am very very grateful for remote learning and until the day they take that away, I will try to fight for that as long as possible so my son is home safe and we are away from any negativity. It feels so great to be home and not have to run to my sons school for any little thing to pick him up and bring him to the doctors all the time for something that isn’t necessary. This is a nice long break from chaos. Sorry for the long post. I just felt the need to let it out.

@verguinia, thank you. I am hoping to see if we can stick to the remote learning and then see what happened after! 😃

@xryztalroze, you are right. I guess I just feel bad in a way since this year has been very bad for a lot of people, that I’m glad that this pandemic gave me a feeling of freedom. My son and I can relax at home and not have to run and do a million things the school would push us to do like run to all the doctors appointments. That was too much. At one point I kept getting calls daily for weeks from the school nurse and I was getting tired of that. I didn’t have the money to do it anymore. It was too much to cab it back and forth or take the trains. I was actually supposed to bring my son to 3 appointments back in February and thank god I canceled them. 😂 I don’t care if the school got mad but once everything closed down in March I was like yes! They weren’t important appointments. The last thing the school was pushing us to do was for me to bring my son to the behavioral pediatrician to get Ritalin which I didn’t agree too. The behavioral pediatrician was pushing as well because of the school but my sons regular pediatrician said that he doesn’t agree with him being on that medication and that he doesn’t need it. His pediatrician is the best. I only want to bring him if he’s sick but not like the school expects me to do for unnecessary appointments or calling me to pick him up all the time. At one point my son didn’t even want to go to school anymore because he got so used to them sending him home, he told me that school is boring and he wants to be home. It isn’t fair that they were messing that up for him because he got used to that but he is right if they constantly send a kid home then the kid will just want to stay home and not even bother with school so I understand why he felt like that.

@verguinia, oh I didn’t know that thank you for letting me know! 😃I’m gonna looking into that.

I feel so silly because I spoke to the principal earlier this year before the schools closed down, about some of these things that the teachers and nurses told me that he didn’t know about. Not only did he not believe me when I told him but he was like why bring it up now? I explained to him a little bit about the court cases and things that I didn’t have time to bring it up before because I was overwhelmed. It was my lawyer that told me it’s never to late to bring it up and since I still feel traumatized about all of that I felt like I needed to get it off my chest to feel better. The principal made me feel worse and told me that I sound crazy because those teachers are wonderful and they would never treat a parent like that. I told him in front of you they won’t but I know what I went through with them. He laughed and just completely disregard my feelings. He doesn’t know that I have witnesses that have heard the teachers over the phone when they would call me and ask me if I was abusing my kid and some of their other rude comments. I’ve put the phone on speaker before so my bf and one of my cousins heard them before. Also he would change his tune if I told him a lawyer said that I have rights and that how they crossed the line. I bet he would freak out and say hey don’t make problems here. I wouldn’t want to but I feel like that school nurse and teachers should at least give me an apology and know how they treated me was unacceptable. I understand that there are bad parents out there but that still hurts me how they jumped into conclusions just because my son was shy in school. I feel like his kindergarten teachers didn’t try to get to know me. They formed an opinion of me right away and from the start I just felt uncomfortable.

@catmomplus3chitlins, thanks a lot I really appreciate it! 😃

That was a really crazy year. Things got better in 2019 even though the next school nurse kept bothering me as well but she never made any false accusations like the first nurse did thank god. She just annoyed me to keep bringing my son to the doctor when he didn’t even need to go and didn’t agree with the medications they gave him. To make things a bit easier for me I would just keep telling her of upcoming appointments I had so that way she wouldn’t keep pushing to send him home for any little thing almost everyday or every week. I would tell her his coughing would take a while to get rid of if he had a sinus infection so montelukast would help him and sometimes take a month to kick in. What helped me at some point was I got a list of medications I gave him from cvs. They printed out a list for me for the last 2 years so that way she saw that I wasn’t lying when I said that he had everything under control.

I get bad anxiety sometimes but that year especially was really bad back in 2018z It put me in a spot when I was under crazy amounts of stress just like back when I was 12. It was like if I was back in the past.

@verguinia, the teacher said I was very unorganized and it’s true in a way I can never be organized like her but the thing is most of my life I was unorganized and since having my son, he has helped me to get better with my life. So I wasn’t on the level she was expecting but I wasn’t the worst thing that she made me out to be. My son had a paraprofessional help him last year and this year but I hope that he can have one again when things are better. So far all his paras were very nice with me and understanding. The principal gave me a hard time. There is definitely favoritism and I understand they are not gonna agree with the parents automatically they will side with the teachers but he didn’t want to believe that they gave me a hard time. I’ve complained to him a couple of times about it and I felt like I wasted my time. He did help once against one of the kindergarten teachers but after that it’s like a waste of time complaining to him about anything. I get nervous each time my son will have a new teacher but so far his 3rd grade teacher seems really nice. I met her in June online before he finished his 2nd grade class. 😃 To bad he won’t be in her class in person but for now I think this will work out best at home. I am crossing my fingers that when the remote learning ends that hopefully it won’t be until next year that he has to go back in person.

@verguinia, I felt like the teacher also judged me because I can be socially awkward and shy and I wasn’t this very outgoing person that appeared presentable. I am more to myself. When I feel comfortable around someone then I get more friendly.

My son didn’t like both of his kindergarten teachers either. He would tell me that they would have no patience with him and yell at him. When he went to 1st grade everything was much better. He learned from his 1st grade teachers what he couldn’t learn from kindergarten. His 1st grade teachers were patient with him and helped him learn how to read. That annoying school nurse wasn’t there anymore but the next nurse got on my case a lot about bringing him to the doctor like every week. That’s why I can’t imagine with this pandemic that everything would be ok. Knowing how they are, they would push for him to get tested all the time so In a way it’s good that I’m avoiding that as well. I wouldn’t want to put him through that.

@xryztalroze, thank you. Yeah definitely! I feel bad to say that because I know a lot of people lost their loved ones this year, their jobs, home but for me I feel like it’s a nice break from my son’s school.

They did. And they are mourning those losses, but your joy does not have to stop just because someone else has a hardship. Obviously there is a way to be tactful in sharing your blessings with someone who is hurting. Think of this: When you had your biggest hardship in life so far did others around you stop enjoying their blessings? No. The world doesn't stop for our individual pains. Nor does it need to. In my saddest of days I can still be happy for the person who is blessed. I can still be compassionate and happy for them. I would hope they could and would do the same for me in my time of joy. We all receive blessings at different times and in different ways. This year has been one of the very best for me in spite of the changes and dealing with Covid. Some of my very best memories in my life have happened and are happening right now. There's nothing wrong with expressing those blessings. You can also be compassionate and share your blessings with the downtrodden. Give them reason for hope, to continue on, to be positive. You can share your joy and they can use it as fuel to claim theirs. It's ok mama! Enjoy your day and have a blessed time!

@lifewithlynnieandwill88, thank you. It’s embarrassing but sometimes I still cry over all of this stuff and feel depressed when I remember all of that. I felt close to suicidal that year but I was really strong to fight my depression that year because I kept thinking of my son. Cps was really pushing to take him but thank god near the ending of the investigation, the social worker saw that I didn’t do anything wrong. It was basically harassment from the school nurse and both kindergarten teachers that time. On top of that my fathers ex wife is not mentally well. Her and her children are schizophrenic and bipolar so they have made a lot of false accusations against my mother and I. They wasted our time and the courts time.

I read thevwhole post and felt it as if it was my story , i also get looked at this way from people eho dont know who i am. I was a pre k teacher and to tell you the rules a teacher under HiPa is not allowed to tell personal stuff about her students to other parents thats a violation ! Also the staff is always thought to treat everyone equal all the student and parents because we are responsible for your most preculious posetion your child and we are tought to work with the parents as partners not to make you feel like your not doing a good job! We are always supposed to use positive reenforsment that means if she felt like your child needed extra help in any area she should of sudjested a chart to help him focus and if he was practically naked she chould of instead of judging gave you a place to get free clothes or maybe use less button shirts to help him not break buttons ! In the future I would like to change my daughter to home school I already found a great program for less money and I like my kids next to me I like being able to know what they eat 3x a day I like being thier teacher and showing them manners and respect I like being able to soend every day with them personally. I ike the fact that my child isnt getting bullied or comes home sad because the teacher gave everyone a treat but her! Im sorry the teachers and nurses gave you a really hard time you are a great mom your doing a wonderful job , you know whst your kid needs and wants, the doctors are on your side im on your side that school just being rude i know because i went to a school that everyone bullied me tje teachers not kids when i was 11 because i was poor and they was rich people trully are ignorent but you gotta move on and ginf what work and if you need a nanny and homeschool to be happier do that!!!!
