Oh girl I already get the ‘light skinned kids’ jokes from her dark daddy. I’m like ‘You do know you’re the first to make her feel like she’s already not included 🥴’

He thinks black peiple can’t be racist. I’m like 💭 are you really that dumb with your MBA?

I am an African Arab Muslim. I experienced racism and dealing with people Islamophobia.

@mazz I don't know any African Arab Muslim, well, I knew an Egyptian a long time ago, and she didn't consider herself African, do you experience racism within your Arab community?

@mywittyusername, when I visit my country no one treat my family and I any different. My experience I speak of came from Americans unfortunately. My father was African born in misr and my mother is Arab born in misr. I currently live in Dubai with my African American husband and children. We haven't had any issue here.

My (white) grandparents don't acknowledge my mixed children (we no longer have contact with them due to this). My childrens' (black) grandmother favors my oldest daughter because of her darker skin (this one is harder as it's my fiancés mother). I've been told my son and youngest daughter aren't mixed because their skin isn't dark enough 🤦‍♀️

America isn’t ready to speak the complicated truth about this “grey

area”. It’s admitting a history of raping slaves and women of color in general and not acknowledging their own children living in their plantation working in the house because he or she has light skin. It’s a reminder of how the govt allowed people to be categorized as mulatoes and octaroons meaning you’re we’re half to 1/8 black. It’s a reminder that in the state of LA a man who appears to be a white man but has a drop of black blood in his DNA is categorized as black.

My white grandparents wouldn’t allow me to swim too long at the country club because I would get too dark, heaven forbid I ashamed my wealthy ass grandparents.

My black family thought I was what the south calls a Frenchmen which is a full creole. When they found out I was creole but my mom was white I started getting looked at sideways and my cousins barely kept in touch after that.

Both sides think I’m an outrageous flaming liberal because I’m SF/Oakland/Berkeley raised me. Yeah, so!?

But if you look black you’re Black, and if you can pass for white you’re praised. HOT ASS MESS....I would like to sell society they fucked up royally on this one.

That is all..

@fairykarmamomma that's the part I don't understand, "if you look black you're black, if you can pass for white you're praised." I spent much of my life not knowing that the lighter shade black people where downed. Colorism was rampant when in my life

Yup, smh, so sad. I'm ready to talk though!! Where's the conversation, debate, argument?!

I'm not mixed, but I pay attention
